So, is Aston Villa in the title race now? Morgan Rogers is quite a player BTW; would love to sign him to replace one of our wingers.

Yes. They're not the favourites but they definitely belong in the betting.

Rogers is some player for sure but I don't think wide forward would be his best position. He's a no.10 and may well be Tuchel's current preference for that role with England.

Nope. They are on wonderful run and still 3 pts and a huge GD behind. They should make top 5 but they won’t get near the title.

Just chatting with my youngest and I said “I wonder where the Burnley players actually live.

Burnley is so fucking grim and racist surely people don’t live local. Manchester is a bit too far and Rochdale, Blackburn, Preston, Bolton are pretty hideous too

I chucked out Skipton as a possibility!

Any ideas?
Phil Neville used to live near Rawtenstall/Crawshawbooth which is not far from Burnley.

Could be Bellingham without the attitude. Almost is already.

Speaking on The Overlap, Van de Ven revealed: “At one point, we just walked up to the gaffer and said that we need to change some things and play more defensive sometimes.

“We played away at Frankfurt and were 1-0 up, and we can’t keep attacking, we just need to come back and have a low block and make sure we get the three points.

“We sat with him and he agreed with us on some things, and he told us that he expected us two guys to sort this on the pitch – to make sure that this is something everybody knows and to speak to everybody on the pitch.”

Van de Ven added: “When we were getting further in the Europa League, sometimes we would sit down with him and say, ‘We need to adapt sometimes’. That wasn’t only with him – that was also with his assistant and other coaches.”

On his relationship with the manager, he added: “He is a really good manager – I still really like him. I don’t know how it all went down behind the scenes, winning the Europa League then getting sacked. I didn’t expect Ange to be sacked.

“There were a lot of rumours, and everyone was on Ange, like the media – there was not a day I was scrolling on my phone and saw nothing about our gaffer. There was always something about him.”

On Postecoglou being sacked, Van de Ven continued: “He was the manager that brought silverware to Tottenham – then afterwards when he got sacked, I sent a text to my dad and my friends, and said, ‘I never expected this’. I texted Ange as well and said, ‘All the best in the future.'”

That's actually a really interesting chart because I would put my house on Liverpool being Top 3 under Klopp (or at least in his last 2-3 seasons).

The turnaround is quite remarkable under Slot's medical / analysis team (didn't they come with him en masse)? 11th on the list now.
... and a non-existent press

May as well put it here since it affects all of them !

The Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) will be held every four years from 2028, Confederation of African Football president Patrice Motsepe has announced.

The tournament has taken place every two years since 1968, with a one-year gap between the 2012 and 2013 editions.

But it will switch to a four-year cycle after the 2027 Afcon in East Africa and a 2028 edition.

Motsepe has instead announced the creation of an African Nations League which will take place annually from 2029.

"We have the most exciting new structure for African football," Motsepe said.

"I do what is in the interests of Africa. The global calendar has to be significantly more synchronised and harmonised."

West Ham United’s record at signing “Strikers” is truly shocking.

Since 2010 (Sullivan and Brady era)
We have signed 56 Strikers, or players who have played as a Striker

Between them they made
2211 Appearances Scoring 491 Goals

However 197 of those goals were scored by players who were signed as Wingers!
Bowen, Antonio, Arnautovic, and Yarmolenko

162 scored By just Bowen And Antonio (32%)

6 of these players never made a first team Appearance for West Ham

21 of them never even scored a single goal

9 of them scored two or less
Meaning 30 out of the 56 scored two or less goals for West Ham (56%)

13 of those players did score 10 or more, however only 9 of those were actually signed as strikers.

And only 3 of those players who were signed as strikers scored 20 or more.
Andy Carroll (34), Carlton Cole (67) and Diafro Sakho. (24)

So in summary out of the best 3 “strikers” we have signed in the past 15 years (Antonio, Bowen and Carlton Cole)
Only one was signed as a striker and I would say at a push, 11 have been a success, and that is me being generous.
