As someone who had a season ticket at the time we signed Ince I can assure you there were plenty of very vocal opponents to his signing. I would say it was around 50/50 with the mainstay of our support at the time.
He punched Franny Jeffers in the mouth and got a straight red in the min Derby game at Chester when I was there. That is good enough for me.
Jimmy Carter was astonishingly ineffectual for us. I've seen blades of grass that have been more influential in a game.

We've had our fair share of turkeys over the years, certainly, but there's one who was so incomparably bad he frequently isn't even remembered when this subject comes up. Step forward the one, the only (thank Goodness):
Nicky Tanner.
I hear he's a decent lad and you couldn't fault him for effort, but he is - comfortably - the worst Liverpool player I've ever, ever seen. Bristol Rovers fans were totally stunned when we bought him, as even they didn't rate him, and Jan Molby apparently nominated him in an after-dinner speech once as the worst LFC player he came across (quote: "He somehow managed to come into training each day and be worse than the day before").

Back to the point about Ince - Your 1st hand view from Anfield (being a season ticket holder and all) gave you a unique insight into the minds of the Anfield faithful. One that I was sadly lacking being a Bucks dwelling OOT.

It was a word the character Con used in the same way a kid today might say 'd'you get me'. An obscure reference, but there you go. Glad you understand my jokes and humour are unrivalled.
