Right Back at ya.

Who do you WANT us to sign?

Well, we shouldn't sign him then. That's kinda my point.

That depends if Slot and the coaches see him as an RB and if he fits the system.
They know best obviously. My reservation is having to very attacking full backs.

That's why Koeman rarely plays him at RB even if Dumfries isn't available.

Getting roasted by Nico happens to the best of defenders. I watched both games and Frimpong was very good. Work rate, defensive and attacking from that RW spot. If there is anything that worries me its whether or not its easy for him to adjust again to a back 4. His best season defensively for Leverkusen was when they played 4 at the back though with him as the RB.

I rarely watch games outside of Liverpool, so my views and knowledge of players outside of LFC are limited. However, I had the opposite impression based on the one Leverkusen game and a couple of Netherlands games I watched.

He attacks space very well. He has a lot of power running, and once he gets going, it isn't easy to stop. I'm not sure how effective this will be against packed defenses, but it will help our counterattacks. The way he attacked reminded me of Dani Alves.

Defensively, I'm not as impressed as you. He might be worse than Trent in that aspect.

The way I saw it, he offers the same attributes as Bradley in attack but several levels above and is worse than Bradley in the defensive aspect.

He’s in the 99th percentile for take ons and ball carrying. He’s on another level to most RB/RWB/RM in that aspect.
Probably one of the paciest players out there as well.

Bradley is much better defensively.

Will have to trust Slot and the coaches if they go for him.

Desire Doue's brother, who plays for Strasbourg. Very good prospect as a defensive RB, who can also play CB

Bradley.

Backed up by:
Bajcetic
Gomez
Jones

This leaves the budget for Forward line, left back and a midfielder
i have proposed this but Bradley is an injury concern which makes the need for a RB somewhat of a priority. All indications are Gomez is leaving. CJ should not be at RB, I would rather put Endo there before CJ.
Its going to be interesting how they fill Trent's departure

I don't want any second choice option to be "let's play someone out of position." It accelerates the injury snowball effect when you rob Peter to pay Paul. In the case of Jones he gets well enough minutes as our only rotation in midfield, and needs to continue improving. The disrespect for his contribution is insane. In the case of bajetic, fuck no, if he isn't going to get lots of minutes at DM, he should continue on loan as he has a career he's rebuilding and showed such promise.

Then finally, Gomez.

Your right back options post Trent are injury prone Bradley, and even more injury prone Gomez? No.

It's all very well, but we need to buy multiple others so we probably need to be frugal somewhere.

If Gomez leaves, maybe thats a different matter. There's no way we should be getting rid of him though...

I get the feeling Slot will want fullbacks who can defend first and foremost, I don't see him wanting the Trent conundrum to continue with someone else, I can see him going for defensive solidity and then reshaping how we create. I think he'd rather have 2x Robbo's than 2x TAA's (in terms of fullback style). A creative forward and a magical midfielder would be a good start, but I equally wouldn't be surprised if he also goes for that much sought after DM and then opts for a midfield of Macca, Gravy plus a DM. We will then need an attack that's big on goal contributions and creative spark.

We cannot be frugal at right back unless we are really smart, or are really convinced Bradley can make it through a season. It is much harder to be our right back than to be our left back. Trent is not the reason that the team gets attacked down that side, but it did put a magnifying glass on his flaws.
