Franca and Vanderson have the best overall stats for a RB. Frimpong has mostly played RM and is not the best option for a RB role. Ola Aina according to the stats isn't all that with Kyle walker Peters having better average stats.

Come on mate - I at least expect a one-sheeter PowerPoint slide with snazzy graphs or some one of those little wheel things with all those options overlayed in different vibrant colours.

Your confusing me with some Singaporean Android, I barely know how to copy and paste

Yeah we're 100% signing him aren't we.

Frimpong and Kerkez down our flanks baby. Basically like having Hakimi and Mendes but on opposite ends of the pitch.

Frimpong is HG and can cover Salah as well. That must be pretty tempting for 30 mill.
Think Vanderson is the better option personally, but lets see what Slot decides.

Was lurking in the Leverkusen forum.
Their own fans refer to him as a winger rather than a right-back, and most agree that he is not strong defensively

It could be that Frimpong is Cheesy replacement? Steph could act as the next Milner and play anywhere

As said in another thread. We need to look at what he can do, and not what he can’t do.

His 30 mill release clause can appaz be paid in 4/5 installments.

Can play RB/RW and played LW for City. HG and 24.

Just a good transfer.

No offence but that's one of most cheesiest statements I've ever read and I saw the same words being used in the Reddit thread too.

Why buy a defender who can't defend? It's in the bloody name!

You know what lets buy striker!
Does he score goals?
No, but he runs around like Nunez.
Yay!

Also… it’s not big playing with a RB that can’t defend is alien to us or prevented us from winning things.

The thing about Trent’s defending that constantly got called out was his body positioning was always all wrong, so he couldn’t win his duels consistently and got caught out - that and concentration.

As a possession team, that’s sort of manageable - I mean, it’s not as if we’ve been posting shit results for the years Trent has been our main RB.

So, for me, I’m not concerned about the straight up defensive stats - particularly with someone playing as a wing back - I’m sure our data nerds & scouts have looked at defensive capabilities.

What worries me more is offensive capabilities and ability on the ball to retain possession, operate in tight spaces while retaining the ball, crossing, passing and chance creation.

It’s why, when people talk about getting a RB that’s primarily defensively minded, I don’t quite get - that’s not really what we need.

Bradley is a potential monster because, while he’s doesn’t have Trent’s passing range, he’s really good at intelligent runs into the box and has some lovely subtle passes in his locker, but mostly as a defender his body shape is good and he can fucking tackle - so immediately he’s offering something in attack and while not perfect, something in defence.

His main issue is not ability - it’s his body… otherwise he’s a Norn Irish Steven Gerrard in my book.

What I want is another RB that’s at least as good at defending as Trent - which shouldn’t be hard to find - but who offers something exciting going forward, because that’s what we need.

Well, let’s look at the data then cheesey:

He’s been dribbled past 57 times in the last 4 seasons. Trent has been dribbled past 55 times this season.

The last season he played as an attacking right back:

In 22/23 he had:

- 56% ground duels won (in the 78th percentile for fullbacks)
- dribbled past 0.7 times per game (also 78th percentile)
- 2.8 dribbles per game (98th percentile)
- 0.23 xAssists per game (90th percentile)
- 0.25 xG per game (94th percentile)

This defender that can’t defend narrative is a poor one when it comes to him, but it must be true cause you saw it once.

I've not been a big fan of signing Frimpong, but having thought about it, I do like the fact he's versatile, which might be the reason we look to sign him. He can essentially play RW, LW and RB. But I'm not sure he'd be happy not to be a guaranteed starter in these positions.

If Bradley was injured, I'd much rather Frimpong there than Jones, Gomez or Quansah.
He does offer an alternative to Salah too, when he needs rest.

Keeping in mind there’s a statistically significant enough chance that Mo’s performance might fall off a cliff at some point over the next season or two…but it’s hard to recruit a high level alternative who currently would come into the new season facing very little game time…I like the idea that Frimpong would offer us occasional genuine RW cover - whilst also giving us a genuine high pressing / defensive winger to compensate Salah’s distinct lack of defensive work rate…all whilst being primarily excellent RB competition for Bradley.

This idea appeals to me a lot too. Frimpong for Salah in certain stages of the game could prove a great game management tactic (even if Salah stays on the pitch in a different position), and also these options mean managing gametime between him and Bradley will be much easier, as they could potentially both start certain games.

I was thinking something similar but with a little bit of a twist.
I'm not sure how much Vanderson is being quoted for (saw an article stating 25M but not sure how true that it) but I feel there's a case for us to go for both him and Frimpong.
If the above amount for Vanderson is true, we could sure up the right hand side with offensive and defensive options for years to come for under 60M.

We don't know if / when Salah's output will fall off, how healthy Bradders is, whether Gomez is staying / can stay fit, or what's up with Quansah, so for that amount it makes sense to me to explore both options.

These are the parts that worry me about Frimpong.

Comparing his defensive stats to Trent's is a bit misleading, as he plays RWB in the midfield four, with three central defenders covering for him at the back. We might as well compare his defensive stats to Salah.

He might be a Danny Alves level talent in which case we do what it takes to accommodate his style of play. It would be funny if Alonso took him to Madrid and made him a starter.
