Whats the point of selling? For what reason.
To make a bit of dough for FSG? Fuck that

Get used to the idea - he is finished at Liverpool, no matter what your opinions are. Use him for spare parts

I doubt he'll ever play for us again but that doesn't mean that Gomez , Klavan and probably Lovren are better than him.

I think I'd prefer him to Lovren at the moment.. I even prefer Gomez to Lovren at the moment to be honest.

My main issue with Sakho is that I believe he's stronger when playing for a defensive-minded team whereas his weaknesses are exposed more when utlizied in a more attacking setup. Maybe our current style is somewhere in between the two and he'd be alright, I am just not sure he'd be solid enough over the course of a season.

Yes our setup leans heavily towards attacking rather than defending which makes not getting Keita all the more disappointing. I think Klopp would like a defensive midfielder but can't find a place in the formation for one and Keita is mobile enough and fast enough to offer much more help to the team defensively without the loss of technical and passing ability that a lot of defensive midfielders bring. Like the Schalke coach suggested at the weekend having Keita is like having an extra player and he fulfill both roles at the same time. Our team would benefit from that immensely.

If he's acting professionally then Klopp should he told to keep him and play him if VVD isn't signed.

Allardyce never had one problem with him and was singing his praises this week, suggesting he may have turned a corner in his attitude.

Going into the season with Matip, Lovren, Gomez and Klaven as our only CBs is reckless, especially when Gomez is already playing at fullback.

If VVD is being signed then cut loose or use him in the VVD deal.

The old 'a players ability gets better and better the longer he doesn't play' trick made famous on 6cm for years and years.

He's shite, Klopp won't play him anyway so get him off the wage bill

I'd have liked to have seen how Sakho'd go alongside Matip. All Allardyce wanted him to do was win the ball and give it to better players, and (though his distribution is actually not bad) he seemed to benefit from that. Sakho as the stopper and Matip as the ballplayer might have been a good combo.

But, as others have said, it's all academic. There's clearly no trust left between him and Klopp and I just don't see how that problem can now be overcome.

The point is Dreamy that he may well be shite, but he is no more, or no less shite than what we have already. So unless we are going to sign VVD or someone of similar less shitedness than what we already have we should keep him and use him.

Our current CB situation with a huge season ahead is a bad joke.

Personally, my concern or doubt is not to sell or not but rather if he's not sold, what happens next. He's contracted to 2020. If we're not going to give him a chance (which I still can't agree totally with given how long ago the issue was and how he had been 'punished'), then rather than haggling over a 30m transfer fee only to end up loaning him out/rescinding his contract, we should probably revise our valuation/plans.

When you have Lovren putting in those kind of displays he does but still getting picked and given a contract extension and Moreno who manages to squeeze into the plan 'despite all odds', this insistence on ostracizing Sakho is quite unfair.

Allardyce had him for ~4 months

If we can't get VVD I'd keep him. We would have sold him if we'd bought VVD imo. Klopp clears fucking hates the guy. And the way he celebrated that goal for Palace when he was on loan there took some of the shine of him for em. But I'd have him ahead of Klavan and Gomez at CB every day of the week. He seriously pissed Klopp off!

I imagine he will replace Jonny Evans at West Brom if that deal goes ahead

I'd play ahead of Lovren every day of the week. However there is just no way he will play for us again so we have no choice but to sell. What is the benefit of keeping him if we aren't going to play him? Head in the sand from those thinking we should keep him.

+1 for the thread title.

He's good enough to be part of the squad given the alternatives but Klopp hates him, so... that's kinda the end of that.

I think Klopp has handled the whole situation really poorly. He's probably our 2nd best CB so unless VVD is signing in the next week If rather Klopp get over whatever it and bury the hatchet. He can still be a very influential member of the squad over the next 9 months.

WBA bidding 30m for Sakho to replace Evans according to a few sources.

If we do sell Sakho for £30m our net spend for the summer is roughly £2 million.

Salah £37m + Robinson £8 million + Solanke £~5m? - Sakho £30m - Wisdom £5m - Lucas £5m - Stewart £8m

Net spend = £2 million net spend.
