Should Everton fans worry?

Ancelotti is a good manager. I see these signings working out better than some of their other recent efforts.

That's true of course, but I thought the same when they employed Koeman. Here's hoping lightning does strike twice in the same place this time..

Rodriguez deal fell through apparently

I was half hoping they'd get him. For all his skill I could see him being a flop in the Prem, Ancelotti or no Ancelotti.

You have to hand it to Everton though - they do a great job at defending their "Transfer Window Winners" position every year. Its worth sacrificing the inconsequential playing season to win that one time & again.

The latest one is the amount of instagram followers.

Cos he has more than the club, & more than Man Utd, apparently that's made us all jealous.

I'm seething with jealousy. I'd gladly give up our CL trophy, PL trophy, & World Club Trophy for a player with that many Insta likes.

I'm liking the new Everton midfield: Doucoure, Allan and James Rodrigues – that's a massive upgrade on what was previously their weakest part of the team. Add a RB and a quality GK to challenge Pickford and they can surely challenge for the EL places.

They have something few other teams outside top 6 have: a strike pairing of a genuinely exciting and durable attacking player in Richarlison and a reliable goal-scoring #9 in Calvert-Lewin, both entering their prime. Their weak midfield limited their effectiveness, but once that's sorted, those two will be a lot more dangerous.

Calvert Lewin is proper shite, though.

Doesn't matter as long as he keeps scoring: 13 in the EPL last season. Many teams would kill for that from their #9, especially if his strike partner is also scoring in double-digits.

Look at how spawny his goals are. He would do well to better his tally this season. Don't think he scored after lockdown and even Blues fans don't rate him.

Is this another season where Everton look better on paper than they actually are?

Potential team:

Notable subs or other starters:
Allan, Sigurðsson, Walcott, Bernard, Davies, Moise Kean

Kinda stacked in midfield, right? With Doucouré, Gomes, Rodriguez, Sigurdsson, Allan and Davies all competing for a spot.

Tbf you want to be overstocked in midfield in a season where you'll be playing 3 games a week with no real break.

I think they will do alright this season. Not going to trouble the top 6 but theyve added a couple of decent players and kept the decent ones theyve already got.

James will be shite but they have added quality and have a good manager. Should see a marked improvement.

This is the problem, they will probably finish 9th/8th which would be a decent improvement. And then at some point the following year Ancelotti will get offered a better deal somewhere else, or it will become clear that they cantbget bigger than 8th and the fans will turn on him.

Let's not look down on them, they too have a very formidable manager now. Ancelotti is no hoax, not like the red side of Manchester.

Some strikers make a career out of spawny goals - Indzaghi comes to mind. As long as he’s consistent, they all count the same. Not sure anything after lockdown counts for much; he looks like a fairly consistent goal-scorer to me.
