So, Luis to Barca.....

I expect Barcelona have agreed to the buy out clause but will now attempt to dick us around by structuring the deal over 100 years.

I imagine that's all that's being discussed now. They've likely met the clause pretty quickly in order to present themselves as reasonable negotiators, before offering 5m up front and the rest paid in 10m chunks over 7 years!

It would useful when posting twitter rubbish for those in the know to say whether they reliable or not

Love it. I remember seeing a saucy cartoon seaside postcard once, depicting a bakery where this bored-looking baker with a ciggie hanging out of his face was crimping the edges of pie-crusts with his false teeth. In the background one bakery assistant was saying to another: "You should see what he uses to make holes in the doughnuts".

Well, I think I've said this before, but I used to work with the twitter 'ITK' Karlton81 in the early 2000s, and he certainly had no inside information then. Was semi-obsessed with us signing Quaresma if I recall, so I thought he might be Rashid at the time.

Press are saying that this could be completed inside the next 48hrs (if it's not already done).
Shouldn't we do what spurs did and not disclose it until the very end of the window so we can get our other business done? It'll be a bit dopey if we announce this deal with like 8wks of the window left to go.

I guess the flip side is that we want to get deals done early and get everyone in for preseason, and we don't want to have to talk about Suarez throughout preseason, in every presser for every friendly, etc. It makes sense, the circumstances around Suarez' move are completely different to Bale's. And Bale came out officially and stated he wanted to leave Spurs to go to Madrid. Suarez on the other hand has, typically, leaked stuff via the press with nothing official being said.

I imagine we know who we want us replacement and are already negotiating on the quiet.

The way we've gone about our business already, one would certainly think so.

What a refreshing change to be able to feel confident in the overall direction of the club, notwithstanding the everyday twists and turns.

We would be debating how much to improve on our cheeky, but rejected £20M bid for Bobby Zamora. After lengthy discussions, a 100% increase would seem appropriate.

An example might be Lovren though, I'm not sure what the market value on him is, but they bought him for 8.5mill and he's played well, so I guess it's not unreasonable to ask for double that for him. But if we announce that we've just got 70+mill in the bank from Suarez, there's jack shit chance we're going to get him for less than 20-25mill. Especially as Southampton aren't a team that needs the money to balance the books.
I like the idea of getting the players in that we want early doors, but don't want to get 'andy carroll'd' over them. I think we did well with the Llama deal for say 16mill up front, but I wonder if that's all about to change with the Suarez deal plastered over every newspaper on the planet.

I wonder if he's going to go for anther out and out goal scorer? With Sturridge, Lambert, Bornini (maybe shit) and Aspaz (proper shit) on the books, and maybe 1-2 of the later might go. Might be risky gambling on Sturridge and a knocking on Lambert for a whole campaign with all the extra games we've got. Wonder if he'd take a look at Remy/Bony/Lukaku.

I really don't think we'll be paying over the odds for players because other clubs think we have loads of money. It doesn't work like that. What other business do you think.... they're doing really well... I'll charge loads more? People / businesses doing really well are normally doing so because they drive a hard bargain. It doesn't matter how much money they have, it's theirs and they don't part with it easily.

All of that is true, but with the wasters we had in charge before FSG you couldn't blame other clubs for thinking we'd be an easy mark.

We're better than we were, definitely, but I do think clubs will try it on because they know we've got the money.

Oh, for sure, but we now have a senior leadership (not Ayre necessarily but those who give him his instructions) which can deal with that. I'm willing to trust their judgment if they set their limits a little higher than we might have done.

Yeah, if anything, it'll probably make negotiations for players even more drawn out than they already appear to be.

Well that's the opposite of my point... Taking money off dickheads is easy whether they have loads of it or they have to borrow it.

Mate, I've said this for season upon season, the silly season is exactly that. People feed off the news that's doing the rounds, however valid or exaggerated, without that, what would we talk about? And I think people are big enough to sift through the bullshit, if they aren't then tough.

Thanks for taking the effort to post what's out there.

We could talk about real stuff.

I wish Hansern and the bullshit brigade would fuck off. If discussing made up shit is what you want to do let's create a fiction section of the site where all the morons can gather and discuss made up shit

Hahaha, thats fucking rich coming from the biggest bullshitter on here. The only difference is that its not a link to a tweet. You should have your own fiction section were you could be the moderator and fuck off from the Football Forum, that would be best for all parties.

Any way, fuck off. I'll do the Chrome thing from Studsup this afternoon.

Not sure if Studsup method includes quotes as well, but just in case, this would work a treat.

window.setTimeout(function(){$("[data-author=Rosco]").css("display", "none")}, 50)

Ross can you confirm your desired thread structure please? I'm a little confused. I'm not having a go but you are taking your 'made up shit' stance a bit far. Why so serious about it all? It's silly season.

People are discussing targets and potential transfers. The players being linked are the discussion topics. Targets begin with tenuous links from the internet. So aren't all threads involving a target 'made up shit' from the beginning until a player is either signed or not signed? Bull shit twitter posts are often pasted into the discussion threads but without that we'd have empty threads.

Solution?
Create thread ; Liverpool have been linked with Emre Can.
Close thread until he is signed or the window closes?
Re open for discussion IF he signs.
Repeat for other targets.

I'm not sure what way you want the threads to play out? Obviously people are going to post vids of the player and articles providing us with some info on the player. So I presume that's relevant.

Should people only provide credible twitter links? But who is credible? No one really. People might hear info but we all know anything can change in football. So ban twitter posts in speculation threads?

I don't see anything wrong with pasting in twitter crap. If someone wants to provide a tweet from some no mark saying Sanchez hasn't decided yet on Liverpool or Arsenal then let them. What harm? If people genuinely think that that source is 'credible', let them. I'd be totally against if the twitter brigade were trying to ram these tweets down our throats and present it as FACT but they don't. They provide them to stimulate discussion.

If the club get shut relatively quickly I expect it's also to protect the club's image somewhat.

It may cost us say, 10m transfer fee, but we can take off his 800k a month salary from that & I'm sure the benefits of looking strong & clean to the world instead of supporting a tainted figure will pay off more than the 10m loss anyway.

It's sad in a way, that sponsors & 'club partners' should have such an impact, but it's inevitable, & if the club doesn't play their best hand in today's game it could cost serious revenue long term.

In an ideal world I wouldn't give a fucking what the biting little cunt did & I'd say keep him regardless, but he's a liability in terms of wages for sitting on the bench suspended & tarnishing the club's image, & unfortunately I don't think even his phenomenonal talent can make up for that when we don't have the finances of City or Chelsea to fallback on.

Edit, that's not true, in an ideal world he wouldn't be such a complete dick.

Well they'd be all better without Hanserns lies for a start.

As Oncy pointed out quoting official sources when you're doing nothing of the kind is simply horseshit.

It's not stimulating discussion, it is being posted as genuine updates. And it's all horseshit.

If you want to quote twitter, at minimum post which account it's from. Which conveniently Hansern never does

And if people are so intent on talking about made up stuff where do you draw the line on it?

Should we encourage people to start threads on our 6-0 win over Real Madrid to win our 17th Cl in a row? That's fun too

We've got to go for someone top drawer. I'll be proper pissed off if we go for Remy/Bony/Lukaku.

I'm not sure the next step up in the strikers bracket is, but would we be able to attract them? We could get those 3.
Would greizmann, martinez, ballotelli be improvements over those 3?
Obviously all the top strikers would be unavailable. Zlatan, ronaldo, cavani, falcao, aguero etc.
I think he's gonna have to go for someone in the remy/bony/lukaku bracket.
