I agrer with that. He wanted out last summer and it was clear to me that he would still want to go to one of Spain's giants this summer. It looked like he'd go to Madrid but now this transfer to Barcelona proves that he simply wanted to go to eithet. He's 27 and the window of opportunities was closing for him.I just want to say thanks suarez for signing the 4+ year deal so that we would get proper value for him this summer. Everyone knew he was off so this deal paid him a big weekly salary, added a release clause and gave us barganing power. Win win .
Now he can fuck off the bitey cunt.
They already have imho. It's who else they are going to get that has piqued my curiosity. This coming season is all about getting depth and continuing with BR's fine footy philosophy. We'll be reet.Good bye Luisa - and please please LFC - spend the money wisely.
Er... kept him here and secured a higher transfer fee.
Yeah, put in place a cast iron get out clause that was significantly higher than 40 million pounds, plus made him feel his earnings reflected his place as one of the world's best players, and stopped chatter that he was unhappy at the club (even if ultimately still fancied a move). All-in-all, it was excellent business on our end.
He was already here and a clause can't increase a player's market value.
Well that's assuming there was anything to force in his old contract. Seeing as he pushed pretty hard last summer, I presume not.
It's not a big deal, we've come out of it ok, but I don't particularly see how it's benefited us. We forced him to stay - he played great. He got a pay rise - he kept on playing great. What's the difference?
. He's not the best player in the club's history, and he's one of the worst men to play for us.
He had the entire team reshaped to suit his needs and his game, so no wonder he did so well last season.
Indeed.I can understand wanting to reframe things now that it seems he is going, but I just don't see this as true. He moved to accomodate a worse player in Sturridge, and we were better for it, but in some games he was really hugging the left wing, and there's no way that's where he wanted to be. Whatever else you can say about Suarez, he's not the sort of moany striker that has to be played in a certain position. Whatever adjustments we made around Suarez being in the side were with good reason, as he was our best player by a country mile.
