So we're on the hunt for a new manager

Very sad. I feel like the forum colours should be turned black or something.

I agree with Macca in that something is gone now that can't be recaptured. A year ago we were all thinking that something had been restored and now it feels like it has completely evaporated. We often talk about squad rebuilding but I feel like we are now entering a phase of club rebuilding and we're not gonna end up with anything like the same club we started supporting many years ago.

Last night I was watching Fox Soccer Channel and they had an ad for a groundbreaking documetary series about our club, the behind the scenes thing, and for a moment I thought "they're probably thinking about getting rid of kenny because he's not the face they want on TV for the yank audience, who probably won't have a clue what he's saying anyway".

I'm not gonna stop supporting though.

Liverpool FC is dead. Long live Liverpool FC.

I agree with your general point, but the audience for LFC in the US is so insignificant that no one would base significant decisions on it. Or was that not meant to be serious?

Yeah, he has already proven time and time again that he is incapable of winning the Premiership. May as well just go with him rather than get our hopes up again

The circumstances made it near-impossible for him to win the Premier League imo, certainly hard enough that only a fuckwit would consider him a 'failure' for not managing to beat the odds. I never thought Houllier should've been judged solely on an ability to win the title, because it was such a tall order, and the same went for Benitez, for whom it was an even taller order.

By your logic Everton should sack Moyes because he's proved beyond doubt to be incapable of regularly winning trophies, regardless of the fact that 95% of managers would do worse.

Couldn't agree more but I'm trying to be somewhat sympathetic considering...
Your inferior Ryan impersonation doesn't suit you style.
You need wit, intelligence and a common knowledge of the game.
Whereas you have a knack of posting dross 15 hours of the day, even your sig suggests that you haven't a clue.

Kenny is a legend and always will be but this is a results business and he paid the price for a poor season. Hodgson got the boot after half a season of poor results. I'm sad that Kenny got the boot but also relieved. Its the right decision for the clun, sentiment aside.

Buying British failed spectacularly and the inflated priceswe paid will have a knock on effect on this coming seasons transfers. It cost both Kenny and Comolli their jobs.

I'm not going to start raging at people. In all fairness those who wanted Kenny out have simply expressed opinions sometimes a bit out of order but mostly respectful. Apart from the gobby self obsessed nobhead that is. There is no "who's right" or "who's wrong" now. Some think it was the right decision, some - like myself - think it's premature and we'll suffer because of it. It's done now. FSG seem to be clearing the decks to implement their masterplan. This year is going to be critical not only for our wishes to progress as a club but also to protect us from declining any further. And don't think for a minute that can't happen, it can. We'd all better pray FSG get this right because, if we don't, we're fucked.

Fine, well we won't agree I know, and you may be right that circumstances made it impossible for Benitez to win the league, but therefore how sure can you be that the circumstances have now changed that much as to make him the best choice for us now?

Wow, just....wow. You kinda just failed with the first sentence.

I wonder what it is that foces us to support our club? Can you support the girl next door who breaks your heart and then ignores you?

The only thing I can compare it to is family; blood is thicker than water and all that. You stick by your family no matter what or there's really nothing to be said for you.

Today was a death in the family. Devastated!

So anyway, if Martinez is our new manager, are people going to get behind him and support him?

Just asking because we know how things went with Hodgson, people were against him from the start which didn't help.

Is the same going to happen here?

I'd definitely support him.

Well there's nothing to be said for plenty on here this season then who've , for me, forgotten the very basic concept of what supporting your club means. And that doesn't mean wanting to win shit all the time. Fuck em, that's their prerogative
