Well I guess one good thing is that some of our poor performances are happening outside of the League meaning we still have a chance to rectify where we stand.

For West Brom I see Wisdom has been starting regularly and so is cup tied so not sure what we should expect from their defence.

Based on performances of late a couple of things are clear:
- We can't play 1 up front as it stands
- Lallana has become one of our most effective players and needs to start
- Skrtel and Lovren is looking a bit better than Sakho Lovren was so I'm happy to continue with this

Questions:
- Can Stevie play 3 games in a week? I guess we have no choice here?
- Is Sterling burning out or at risk of it? I would expect him to get some early subs once Studge is back and if we ever actually get comfortably up in a game.

I'd want to see:

Is much moee mobile and full of running and energy, something we really lack.
Rest Sterling and play Lallana behind the two.
We can't afford to rest Stevie at the moment I don't think. Lucas is shit.
 
You know you're playing shit when you are back to 3pm Saturday kick offs.
 
For me, Gerrard has to be rested (dropped), Mignolet needs fucking off for a bit, and Sterling needs a break. Maybe go the diamond and play borini up front with Mario.

I'm sure he will be the first name on the sheet. The team isn't a team at the moment. At all. His performances aren't up to his usual standard, but i can just see the players running around like a disjointed band of headless chickens without him on the field. I'm sure someone will replace him as captain soon, but I can't think of anyone in the team that's ready for that role just yet.

LOL - talk about an OTT reaction. Toure in for Skrtel, Jones in for Mignolet and Borini in for Sterling? We'd get killed. Toure is a liability and I think Jones is an unknown. Not sure Lazar is ready to be starting yet.
 
It felt like everything amazing last year started when Gerrard got hurt and we thumped Spurs away with Lucas, Hendo and Allen in midfield. It brought most of our players out of their shell and made Hendo a confident force of nature. I'd drop Gerrard. I'd even play Rossiter, Hendo and Lallana in the middle.

Toure isn't that bad, sterling needs a rest, and jones can't be any worse than mignolet at the moment?

Toure is ALWAYS due a complete brain fart - I don't want him near the pitch.

Agree re: Sterling needing a rest. Ideal situation would be sub him off after 70mins claiming he's got a knock so that he misses England duty.

I know, but talk about overreacting on the wrong players. Let's make wholesale changes and take out one liability and put in another three.

Pity Sakho is still inured because Skrtel was shite at Basel and cost us the goal.
Gerrard shouldn't play but will with the International break coming up. Sub him off later if needs be.
WBA are going to sit deep like every other sod coming to Anfield now ...... which means I'm tempted to try something slightly different (though I'd prefer Sterling - Balo up front but I know BR won't do that). So I'll leave Coutinho out as there won't be much space behind their back line again and also again we won't have the players making runs into the channels.

Whatever his weaknesses, Lambo holds the ball up brilliantly, is ace in the air and adds another goal-scoring threat too, having someone ahead of him will also help Balo. Henderson and Lallana have oodles of energy to help track back on the wings and Manquillo and Moreno can work with those two to exploit the wide areas. Sterling can go where the hell he likes so making it harder for them to double/triple up on him.

It looks like we might be leaving Gerrard a little isolated but Manquillo and Moreno will be around and as I have said all three of Henderson, Sterling and Lallana are very good at tracking back.

Agree completely with Frogfish, everything pointed out is true but on the whole I just hope to god we won't line up with Balotelli alone up-front, and personally I wouldn't mind dropping him completely.

WBA have 3 wins and 1 draw against us in their last 5 games. This wont be easy by any stretch.

I'll take any win in any shape or form. 6-5, 1-0 who cares.
