So who do we want/expect/hope?

Well that's not how I interpreted it.

Quite, it seems some think that because we're not rushing into it and we are giving it careful consideration, that it means we're dithering because we haven't got a clue. Which of course, is just fucking nonsense.

I'd love to hear from all these trigger happy posters a year down the line when we've shotgunned into appointing someone and it's gone belly up.

Oh.

“It is about a whole cross section,” Ayre said, explaining Liverpool’s targets. “If you box yourselves into a corner, then you can only speak to three or four because they only fit a particular profile.

"You have got to have a more open mind about what you will consider and what you will look at. Then you assess everybody. Then you find the right person to fit in with the plan.”

Ayre needs to stop talking now as the above is just business waffle, the problem is with no else in the club at the moment so he will continue to talk nonsense.

The above statement to me means nothing, I for my sin went went into world of management and sometimes you don`t know when someone is talking bollocks. He is a commercial man when he talks football just sounds pathetic in my opinion.

He keeps talking about the "plan" my worry now is that owners are over thinking the game...anyway the next few weeks should see the "plan" fall into place.

And then Henry can be pictured smoking a big cigar and stating "that he loves it when a plan comes together"

Agreed Mark. But my biggest fear is that this is very similar to when we appointed Hodgson. The other candidates were just for show, like Pellegrini.

I really hope I'm wrong, but I fear Martinez is alreay the chosen candidate..
Which will divide fans even more and he'll be under extreme pressure from the first kick.

Someone will be keeping tab here on who is for who and bring it up when the who is appointed failed miserably!

tap nose.

If they selected Martinez it will be a risk but I will support him, at least he plays the game the right way unlike Woy....Seems to me that some fans won`t be happy with any candidate...For me maybe it is worth risking a young manager who has good backroom support and boardroom support...

I would prefer if we went forward now and by that I don`t think we should look at Rafa for manager, if the club are talking to him I would hope it would for a higher level role..

Maybe this idea of a GM with a head coach could be the future, we just need to wait and see....I hate seeing all the bile coming out when at the moment we are only talking to Martinez...The man is talented and deserves to be interviewed, imagine what would happen if in the next few years he goes to Arsenal or Spurs and is a huge success, sometimes risks need to be taken and if selected he would be a risk but no point saying he would fail as we just don`t know.....

The thing I don't understand about Martinez for us is, whilst he plays great football, his teams always struggle to score. We've had the exact same problem all season, what would change?

Is everyone still boo hooing for no reason? Or have people accepted that SOMETIMES managers can actually do well at a different club.

This coming season is a precipice, we're teetering over a cliff. Another season of low league position will mean definitely no new stadium & we'll be further away than ever from getting top 4.

Every single season we don't qualify takes us exponentially further away from it, esp now CL revenues are increasing.

They really have to get this appointment right.

With all this talk of Martinez, Rodgers etc I'm mystified as to why Lambert isn't getting much of a mention.

He took a Norwich side on it's knees (and in a financial mess) from 22nd in League one to two back-to-back promotions (no playoffs) and an excellent first season in the premiership - with a bunch of lower league (and non-league) players. And all of that with nigh on zero spend.

He's a winner and must be under consideration.

He's been mentioned as a candidate that will be approached in a couple of reports.

Brendan Rogers probably woke up next to John Henry full of the joys of spring, but then saw him shedding his skin in the bathroom.

I see it as like Forumla 1, no driver no matter how talented will win the drivers championship with a crap car, give a driver who has won nothing a top car and suddenly he is right up there, same for horse riding.

Martinez could be brilliant with a better squad than he is used to. Barca hire managers who have never managed before don't forget.

If we want a big name with trophies would you prefer Capello, no?

I don't care what they have done in the past.

Sky now saying we are talking to 12 people, this will take a while

We still have time. Our first game aint until the end of July, and if our targets don't perform in the Euro noone else will snap them up anyway. And if noone in place till July the ass manager can probably run the team a few games... 😎

I want Guardiola put in place with 300M in his back pocket to buy up whoever he wants a la City...

We'll get Martinez and about 50p...
