Liverpool scouts where present in Parken last night watching the Denmark v Portugal game and one player in particular - apart from the usual suspects - could've gotten our interest.

23-year-old powerhouse defender Andreas Bjelland who's still playing for minors FC Nordsjælland in the Danish Super League.

A very strong build defender who's not only strong in the air but on the ground as well. Good pace as well and he'd come very cheap I reckon - around the £2M mark.

Did very well to deputise for Daniel Agger alongside Simon Kjær against Cyprus and last night against Portugal and looks bound for a big move soon.

His agent btw is one Michael Steensgaard.

The bloke who ended his career when he had an accident over an ironing board? Without ever playing for Liverpool!

What is it with the Danes? Are they carved from glass?!?!?!

Didn't even know that story to be honest. Wasn't he only a fringe player that never played mind?

Btw Poulsen was NEVER injured.

Yes they've really softened up since the 9th century.
I would say we have a slightly better than 50/50 chance of going through now.
Looks like Eufa are tying to get us through to the main competition next summer.
Pay back for the "hand of Thierry"?

Having watched NI versus Estonia the only player Ireland should be concerned about is their attacking midfielder Konstantin Vassiljev. This is a team that were beaten by the Faroe Islands ffs...and were more or less gift-wrapped their goals in the NI game. To think if NI hadn't capitulated against Estonia home and away and not squandered two points against the Faroes, it could possibly have been a Ireland-NI playoff.

What have the playoffs got to do with Scotland and Spain?
I was wondering that myself.

Turkey v Croatia and Bosnia v Portugal, ouch. Arguably the best four teams of the lot were drawn against each other.

It's a great draw for Ireland, that's for sure(for Estonia too though).

Previous chat about the playoffs was in this thread. Change the name if you like.

We don't change thread titles to account for off topic discussions, its too onerous. how is someone coming to the board after a week away supposed to know the playoff talk is in here?

Since this has strayed off topic its being locked.
