Always liked Danny. All the best to him.
I like him a lot and still rate him as a footballer. He's never been a massive loss, but given we signed shite like Diao and Cheyrou after him, you can say it was a mistake. Playing him out on the right did him no favours at all. I hope he continues to play at a decent level for as long as he wishes.
True, it's a shame some posters have a short memory when it comes to some our past players, like Spud and Riise. Both were cracking servants to the club and our biggest arch enemies hated playing against both of them.
My memory of Murphy is that he was inconsistent. He'd have one good game then disappear for two.
Sure there are some great moments, but he wouldnt have become more than a squad player.
When Benitez came and brought Alonso with him he kinda set the bar. Murphy had Alonso, Hamann, and Gerrard to compete with. It was the right time for Murphy to leave. We got a decent fee and I have no regrets whatsoever.

Fair point, I think he'd said though he was a bit rash in his decision, I think he'd have been content with a place on the bench and would have been a good option. He was inconsistent and never totally top drawer, but his eye for a pass was good and his setpieces and ability to come up trumps in a big game was a irreplaceable.
They'll have a midfield trio of 99 yrs old if Murphy, Dunn and Pedersen were to play together (35, 33, 31).
Thats good enough for the Championship.

True. Dunn is Charlie Adam V2 as well.
Averaged 9 goals a season with us. And countless assists. His downfall was attempting things like passes that were actually difficult. We're much better off with players who sideways pass their way to a 90%+ success rate in our own half.
That was the crux of it. Like Garcia, I could live with him giving the ball away because more often than not he was trying something positive. Riise was another who was worth a good ten goals a season for us.
I really don't understand how people can slate them. It's ridiculous. yes neither were consistently brilliant for us but overall they provided some unforgettable moments and had more good games than bad from what i can remember.
Furthermore both of them gave 100% every time they pulled on a Liverpool shirt.
Little Luis helped us win the CL.
Just for that he's imo bigger and more important than Murphy ever was. How many important matches did he win us? Im talking significant games?
Just his goals against Chelsea, Juve and Chelsea again are more than whatever Murphy did.
I hate to belittle Murphy's contributions to the team cause I think he was decent but comparing him to Luis is just wrong.

Yeah he helped us beat Man U three times but Luis won us trophies.
I might be wrong but I don't remember him being as important as Luis was in us winning the CL and the FA cup. Which is the point I'm trying to make.
