Ban.

If it was choice between letting Mo go on deadline day or Jorg signing, I'm picking the former.

This is not how it should work.
Maybe Jörg's been watching too much Taskmaster and means himself as *that* kind of assistant

Didn’t think it was possible, but we actually went ahead and rebuilt the midfield in one summer. Not clear who plays what role yet, but there is clearly a lot of talent in this group.

I know the tweet was about young players but I hope Thiago is still alive, both physically and in people's mind. I really hope that we get to see some brilliant big game performances from Thiago this season either in EPL or in Europe whenever needed.

I do hope Thiago is around to give the young Gravenberch a hug and tell him that leaving Bayern was the best thing he ever did :)

Said it the other day

Incomings 7/10 - just missing a LCB and a specialist DM

Outgoings 9/10 - Adrian not going is a big fuck up. Thiago maybe too.

Conduct - 2/10 - The whole Lavia, Caicedo debacle was embarrassing. Not to mention other teams know we have the cash if we want to spend.

Lavia with the small increments
Caicedo with the over the top bid with no chance of getting him.

Having to pay release clauses for Mac Allister (albeit a good one) and Szoboszlai does not fill me with confidence we can lower fees.

Overall 7/10

It's a mixed bag.

Jury out in a big way on Endo and Gravernberch comes with plenty to prove.

Mac Allister and Szoboszlai look inspired. The later in particular could become an iconic player for this generation.

Fucking around with Lavia and Caicedo and not using that time to land a CB could prove catastrophic.

Back up RB would also have been useful.

We've completely rebuilt the midfield and lowered the squad age. There remains a feeling that years of inactivity have caught up with us and left us too much to do achieve in one window, especially without a proper sporting director.

7 out of 10 feels right - unless we do something stupid before the Saudi windo shuts.

Midfield rebuilt and we move on to rebuilding the defence.

Some homegrown players look a necessity as does a sporting director.

We've signed three potentially great midfielders with a solid, experienced one in addition. In terms of the calibre of players signed I think it's been a really good window, but it'll completely depend on the system we use. Trent moving into a hybrid position was a response to our midfield being completely gash last year; given we've overhauled it, will we persist with that, or revert to Trent as an overlapping full back? If it's the latter then we have midfielders who can cover space now and make sure we aren't left exposed when Trent goes forward. It also makes the need for a LCB less pressing. But if Trent is still playing the hybrid role there's a fairly hefty gap in the squad.

Real Madrid already ‘regrets’ saying ‘no to Man Utd and Liverpool after bad ‘feeling’

Joe Williams 2 hours ago

Federico Valverde is already regretting his choice to stay at Real Madrid amid interest from Manchester United and Liverpool, according to reports.
Liverpool brought in Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo and Ryan Gravenberch to improve their midfield, while Man Utd added Sofyan Amrabat and Mason Mount in the centre of the pitch.
But there were rumours throughout the summer, mainly coming out of Spain, that Liverpool and Man Utd could be interested in signing Valverde with rumours that bids had been made.
It was claimed in the last ten days of the transfer window that Jurgen Klopp had been dealt a ‘KO’ in his attempts to sign Aurelien Tchouameni or Valverde from Real Madrid.
Liverpool had to ‘settle for’ other targets with Klopp apparently left ‘in the lurch’ by the players’ decision to turn down a summer move to Anfield.
Man Utd were linked, along with Chelsea, but Liverpool proved they had the necessary funds to complete a deal by bidding £111m for Moises Caicedo before he joined Chelsea.

And now Spanish publication Nacional claim that Valverde has ‘already noticed’ that he will not be an ‘undisputed starter’ at Real Madrid this campaign.
The Uruguay international was dropped by Carlo Ancelotti for their 2-1 victory over Getafe on Saturday with Jude Bellingham scoring a late winner to continue their perfect start to the season.
Valverde started the previous three La Liga fixtures but had to settle for a 10-minute cameo at the weekend as Ancelotti went for a midfield of Luka Modric, Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga with Bellingham playing more advanced.

And now Valverde has ‘a feeling of being secondary’ and he ‘needs more prominence’ after saying ‘no’ to Liverpool, Man Utd and Chelsea in the summer.
It is understood that he now ‘half regrets having made this decision’ with the ‘best thing he could have done is to have packed his bags’.
Man Utd legends Roy Keane and Gary Neville have both been impressed by Liverpool’s start to the Premier League season with Klopp’s side winning three and drawing one of their first four matches.
Keane said on Sky Sports: “Liverpool have had a good start. They are going under the radar and they will be delighted with their start.”
Neville agreed, adding: “They have a world class manager who has brought stability to that football club and everyone believes in, that is so important.

So he fucked off to Napoli instead. Who knows. He could be our next big money signing if he does well at Napoli.

Strange reasoning given that we sold our entire midfield and our oldest midfielder now is 24.... unless we made it clear to him he'd be 2nd / 3rd choice.
