Maybe some professional help for whatever’s going on in your head rather than a Thierry Henry gif might be better.
Historians would engage their brains to identify the things which caused the Germans to elect Hitler, his rhetoric, reparations, national debt, employment, whatever it is you can learn lessons that are true and applicable to the world. We both know people won't look at the causes for Sweden in the same way, because the cause is known already of course! The Swedes are a bunch of backwards racists who hate immigrants and gays, and they need to be educated and lectured to by their morally superior counterparts in LA and New York, until they understand what it means to be a loving and tolerant human being. Isn't that right @Modo?
Any idea how right wing they are compared to the parties in the UK or wherever? The current Greek government are quite right wing in some of their rhetoric but they still have free health care and education. You can still claim money for prescription glasses, prescription medicine is heavily subsidised etc.LOL
It's all about immigration and crime.
Sweden is at a boiling point. Although I refuse to believe that over 20% of the voters are racists, it's quite clear that a significant amount of people are unhappy with the country's immigration policies. Over 20% expressed their belief with their vote, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's at least 20-40% more who share the same viewpoint regarding immigration and crime. No one I know is happy with the status quo.
Although the right wing party Sweden democrats (Sverige Demokraterna) are the second largest party, they won't be part of the government (highest executive authority). but they'll have a powerful position in the Riksdag (the legislature and the supreme decision-making body).
Haha, I think I'm goodIf they'd expressed their belief with their prior spending habits, then corporations would compete for their krona by producing better goods and services. Alas the people decided to signal their political virtues with their spending habits, to signal to everyone how much they care about LGBTQ issues and how much they care about the climate, and so corporations compete for their krona by being more virtuous. You can't blame them. Then those corporations increase their revenues, then they become the ones who buy the government ministers, who in turn signal their virtue, and round and round you go in your new world.
It's their own fault. Trying to fix it with a binary political vote is a laughable act of desperation. It will probably backfire badly for them. I would just leave if I were you. Thailand is quite nice.
They're not right wing in the conservative sense, like it's not about privatizing the public sector. Sweden is still a social democratic country certain thing won't change.Any idea how right wing they are compared to the parties in the UK or wherever? Fucking communists. In other words.
Sounds a bit nazi-ish, doesn't it.They had me at dawn raids. Where's the Mick McCarthy gif?

The Sweden democrats voter base mostly consists of working class people on country side. It's former Social Democrats (left wing party) who are just expressing their dissatisfaction with immigration and crime.
Here's a list of things they want to change (google translated)
The Sweden Democrats
- Package of measures for security, including a census, dawn raids and build out vulnerable areas (May 3)
- Raise the guaranteed pension and lower taxes for pensioners (together with SD, KD and L, May 8)
- Blocking of contributions in the case of previous criminality, new authority payment control and business ban in connection with criminality, among other things (June 1)
- Replace current police leadership (June 11)
- Before paid police training (July 6)
- 100 points to fight crime. Among other things, a lowered age of criminal jurisdiction, a reduced sentence discount, the introduction of visitation zones and a lifetime ban on re-entry in the event of deportation (July 6)
- A rural program: people who take up employment in the shortage group will have their student debts written off and municipalities will be able to say no to receiving asylum, among other things (July 25)
- Reduced employer contribution for all companies, but especially for companies in sparsely populated and rural areas (July 25)
Promises not to raise the tax burden in the next term (together with M, L and KD) (July 29)- Investigate what is required to restart Ringhals 1 and 2 (nuclear reactors), investigate the possibilities of dismantling the conditions for the tech companies' server halls and increase the funding for investments in energy efficiency in companies (August 4)
- Abolish the electricity tax and VAT on electricity from November to February for companies and individuals (August 17)
- Introduce a new form of community service for young people and lower the age of criminal responsibility to 13 (August 17)
- SD's election manifesto: Dental care should be included in general welfare, nationalize the unemployment insurance fund and change the multiple-child allowance into a multiple-child deduction, among other things, reduce aid to finance welfare in Sweden (August 22)
- Before government control of specialist care, a national waiting list must be introduced and clearer national regulation of Swedish health care (August 26)
- 30 proposals for asylum legislation at the legal minimum level according to EU law (August 31)
It's not open borders that are the problem - it's foreign policy.Great wishlist. Doesn't say how any of it is to be paid for? My guess would be windfall taxes, usually is.
I like the dates, are they targets?
What is "before paid police training"? I'm intrigued.
Overall Sweden seems locked into the same immigration dilemma as many countries whilst trying to shoehorn it's own national ideas into the straightjacket of "EU law". Even the UK who nominally isn't in the EU, follows rulings by the ECHR which just stalls action. Everyone knows open borders are unsustainable but are too polite to do the right thing. It's pathetic.

Maybe more to do with foreign politicis seeping its way into UK than unis
Ah I see your logic now.
Are they really all international students?
I thought some would be locals
The strange thing I noticed is while the % of Catholics and/or those who claim just to be Irish is creeping up, the % of Protestants and those who claim just to be British both fell by quite a bit. I suspect the % of Protestants possibly fell because it's an older population and the British only % possibly fell so much because of Brexit and/or the state of the Tories.I think there's a decent portion that are British and NI, which would probably be much the same allegiance. I think it's more interesting to look at what percentage is either British or British and something, vs similar to Irish, or indeed NI(which is the growing number from a quick look).
I've been told that happens, but I'm not sure if I've ever seen any official data for it.Are middle class Protestants still going to university in larger numbers in England/Scotland and then settling there?
