Sunlit Uplands

The election the actual government called to get a Brexit mandate and then didn't get one ?

Yes, there's no such substantive thing called a mandate. Mandate is up there with sending the government thoughts and prayers. What they needed was ministers likely to vote against brexit replaced by ministers likely to vote for it. So as to avoid having to change brexit into the clusterfuck we have now which was the only shit thing the politicians were willing to give their own lol mandate for.

One day people might learn to value capital and labour above political mandates, feelings, thoughts and fucking prayers. I won't hold my breath.

If only the UK had the people behind Vote Leave running the country, this Brexit clusterfuck would have been so different.

If we slashed taxes, then they could just move to the UK, circumvent the ban, enjoy more of their profits, and go nuts with the lowest trading fees in the world. We'd have been up trillions instead. Alas we signed a deal contractually agreeing to not lower taxes or do anything else of the sort, because otherwise a bunch of fishermen, irishmen and diseased retarded students would have to go home. I will refrain from calling them all a bunch of racist thick selfish cunts, it's too soon for that, let's wait and see how many fish they catch / taytos they fry / climate change funds they secure first, as we could yet come out ahead. Fingers crossed.

Labour are a shambles. A total fucking shambles. And whilst that remains the case we have to suffer the government being absolute fucking nobheads with no recourse

Well, your voting choices last week were (1) a minimum 1% risk of death by covid should you go to the polling station that was invariably located in the nearest crime/disease ridden council estate, or (2) a 100% risk of future electoral fraud should you send off a postal vote and help to normalise that method. 1% ain't going to cut it when the candidates are all corrupt racist morons. Seems like for the first election ever since people died for their right to vote, the best play was to piss on their graves by staying home and looking out for yourself instead, such is the state things have come to.

Yippee - UK / OZ Free Trade Agreement.

Looking forward to 5% off scotch we’ll get over here.

Love that Boris called out cheap Jacob’s Creek.

That would be the the Jacob’s Creek owned by Pernod Riccard..... smashing.

Avoid the cheap Tim Tams - they’re just shit Penguins, and if you see cheap bacon or sausages marked “Australian Produce” - pay the extra for UK produce.

Wait till you see the cheese Oz will be sending the UK!!!

Yeah I'd rather eat myself.

Meanwhile the UK is looking to sell cars to Oz?

Remind me again what’s made in the UK - Toyota, Nissan, Honda, Vauxhall....

I’ll take a cheap Jag, if I must?

As long as you mark the parcel that it's a gift... Apparently the Greek gov are introducing some extra import tax on stuff from outside the EU. Bastards.

Surely I should just mark the parcel “BEWARE” - your Greek postie will know it’s a gift then.

Do you actually make any decent wine? Jacob’s crank and 19 crimes crap is all I notice from oz.

Australians are good at talking, they can talk a lot about the wine, make it sound fantastic, they are also damn good at drinking it. However, making it, I don't know, that requires an understanding of complex biochemical engineering processes as well as advanced sensory perception. I don't think that is what they're particularly good at.

That’s actually the opposite of reality - I know... shock horror for Dantes!!!

The Australian industry is actually one of the most technologically advanced in the world and has embraced the science in a way that “old world” countries, in many respects can’t due to archaic regulations- I’ll refer you to Burgundy & Bordeaux classifications.

That’s not to say the technological advances have improved quality - in some cases it’s allowed people to use other techniques to hide or circumvent faults in the wine.

Screw Cap would be a fine example - I’ll let you research this, if you like.

That’s the problem - they’re shit wines- that’s like saying English beer is crap because... Carling Black Label.

Jacob’s Creek is a Pernod Riccard mega brand - I don’t think I’ve ever bought a bottle.

19 Crimes is a Treasury Wine product - they’ve recently introduced a Snoop Dog range - mass produced shite.

You can get good Aussie wine in the UK - but not in the supermarkets - generally.

A lot of the best stuff - or should I say the stuff that’s not mass produced and over delivers at price point - just isn’t exported to Europe.

Well.... it wasn’t until China stopped buying it.

You’ll find some cracking, approachable, quality Aussie wines.

Rule one - if it says it region is S E Australia - it’s shit.

The reason they couldn't shut the Indian flights down was cos Boris needed to get over there and make some Anglo- Indian deals happen.

Perhaps it would have been prudent to secure these things before paying the money for the withdrawal agreement. Oh well you live and learn.

You're saying that as if this government is prudent. The word your looking for is ineptitude
