All this Raynor headlines.. smacks of more dead cat politics to me.

Is Boris seriously thinking he's some sort of modern politician who's in tune with the electorate? Oh what a hero saying the 60+ year old who was perving on Raynor in tights will face the terrors of the earth.

All while the Gray report is supposed to be 'utterly damning' but set to be released in 2052.

Isn’t one of the theories that Boris is behind the leak that the Gray Report is so damning that he’ll have to resign, so that when it comes out and is less damning than expected, he’ll be able to claim it a win.

Gray report won’t matter - the only thing that’ll force him out is if the Parliamentary party reckon he’ll lose the next General Election - the Local Elections might be the thing that does it.

I would imagine that there will be some expectation management about that as well. There usually is from all sides. There will be a story that the Tories are set to lose X number of councils/councillors so when they actually lose a lot less, it seems like a victory of sorts.

In one sense, Boris is kinda fortunate with the election cycle here too. A lot of the places that are up for election are places where the Tories don't tend to win anyway, plus Labour actually made gains in the previous set of elections 4 years ago.

The flipside of that though is that it won't give him much in the way of good news to point to.
 
Well, it's been a bit of a bloodbath at the Locals...Tory knives must be out for Boris now, surely?

They don't normally fuck about in these sort of scenarios

I know it's not an original point but who can they even get who's not even more despicable?

Sunak's fucked after his wife's excellent tax planning was revealed, Truss is a joke, Gove's a scumbag and a worm. Etc

I think it’s hard because they pretty much expunged or at least the erect side-lined, anyone not loyal to Johnson or Brexit from the Parliamentary party.

The only internal grouping left are seemingly bigger clowns than Johnson.

They don't seem to be. The Tories obviously did pretty badly in some places but they held on in other places. Things haven't really gone spectacularly well for Labour either.

With that in mind, I think Boris might be allowed to hang on for a while
 
I know it's a sign of getting old thinking that everything is getting worse, but have we ever had a worse bunch of dickheads in Westminster? This is the worst govt in my lifetime, and the worst opposition. The worst press covering it, and utter weapons on the socials making it all twice as bad.

What happened was, about ten years ago someone realised that most people are thick and won't amount to fuck all, and that was the day aspirational politics died. Instead of promising better futures, promise things will be worse for people who can actually think and do stuff, because the idiot majority would rather things were shit for everyone instead of just them. *turns off Adam Curtis voice*

I don't think we've had a worse political or administrative situation. All of the main players on both sides know how to talk but not how to act. This situation seems to be replicated in many countries, think Biden, Trudeau, Macron etc

Thing is, how do we get competent people to run things?

It's easily the worst administration in the UK but I dunno how they'll be forced to leave.

Well this is going swimmingly well. Lord Hanuman saying we should have stayed in the EU single market. No doubt the remainers will be blamed for that
 
No confidence vote tonight. M

I've a feeling he'll survive, but he's severely wounded. Much like May was 3 years ago.
 
i have no confidence that he will get ousted in this vote. In a way I want him to survive as I don't believe he can make it through another GE with Partygate, Covid & Brexit all on his card.

I agree with the first bit, I think he'll survive but re the GE people forget easily though.
It'll all be onto the next thing as quick as you can, I'm sure there's plenty more wild shit happening and to come.
 
For Boris this is actually the best timing for him. This time next month after another kicking at the polls and I think there would have been a real chance of him being ousted.

If he survives this non confidence vote he can't be ousted till 12 months later. Might be better as at the polls they will get a shooing. The people don't forget or let them off so easily
 
It's the best possible result for the Labour Party. Hopefully the Tory back benches keep continue to defy the useless prick and the infighting continues.
