Well I must say I wasn’t worried when Chelsea picked him.

Arguments with owners seemed to be it’s MO and thought he’d crash and burn.

20 odd games in and they are flying in the league, have a real chance to win the CL and have dumped City out of the FA Cup.

They could well be the team to beat next year.

Anyone’s opinion changed?

Boss title but they’re still riding that crest of a wave. Tow for tow we are better.

It's early days. Honeymoon phase etc.

Great thread title btw.

Hopefully but he’s beaten all the top managers and didn’t concede a goal doing it. They had something crazy like 16 shots in 12 league games. Wtf!

Obviously fall out of the top 4 and get beaten in the CL and suddenly the pressure mounts but so far he’s exceeded all expectations.

That’s my good thread title quota exceeded for the year!

My opinion was always that they’ve signed some good players, no surprise they’re becoming competitive really. Disgusting that they seem to have pulled off a bit of a Coutinho with Hazard, i really hoped they’d labour for a while after his loss.

Spent 334 million in last 2 yrs, they are a well backed club and always have been.Got a decent manager in who’s got them organised and playing well.
However, not convinced by Touchel’s long term credentials from his previuous roles yet, next season is the big test whether he can maintain that.

Hes inherited arguably the best squad in the league, they were massively under performing with Lampard. If he builds a decent CB partnership then I can see them as genuine challengers next season.

Ya insane how badly it’s gone for him there. They are an insanely good squad only hampered by Lampard.

They will be challengers regardless I think. The question will be if anyone else can stay with them.

Tuchel has a very logical MO. First strengthen the defence and get them working harder, then work on underperforming players. He has a very good squad and will no doubt buy again in the Summer. City, United, Chelsea and ourselves fighting it out for the title and Top 4 positions next season, where I don't see anyone running away with it. A tight run race - if any of those clubs miss were to out on the CL that could be the deciding factor in their favour.

He looks like Michael Stipe.

I hope to see a compilation his face after multiple defeats next season with “everybody hurts” playing - as they proceed to win fuck all and completely underachieve again next season.

The horrible pricks.

They are 20 points behind City, the idea that they are just going to run away with it is nonsensical. City are the team to beat
What did we win the PL by ? Not that I think CFC will run away with anything, though they will likely be in the picture, but the points difference today means nothing next season.

Tuchel is a good manager. However as and when the Chelsea team dip in form, he'll be gone. Like all before him.

We're still trying to make up that 25 point deficit from a few seasons back, its just got a lot worse this year. We'll be easily 45 point behind City at the start of next season

We ran City right down to the wire 2 years ago and then won last year. We had form and reproduced it, the surprise was that City fell away. Chelsea haven't shown any real title winning form over a prolonged period so suggesting they can win it is somewhat plausible but suggesting that it's impossible to see who could stop them makes no sense. Utd City and Chelsea will all be in the mix next season, whether we are or not is highly dependent on what we do over the summer.

After last summer's transfer window, I think the consensus here was that they had an embarrassment of riches at the attacking end of the field - only matched by city, with more depth than ours. But, most agreed that the defense was not strong and Frank was not ready to make the most of the talent.

That has all turned out to be true. Now, Tuchel, has stabilized the defense quite remarkably, but still needs to recruit at least 2 new CBs in the next year or two.

Offensively, they are struggling, even with all of the talent. Seems this is because how defensive the midfield sits to protect the CBs. To play more expansively, I expect they will also need to recruit another holding midfielder to complement/cover Kante - he just turned 30, and Kovacic, who I think is there most important player to make things work back to front.

With that said, this is one of the best squads in the league and with more strength, depth and athleticism in CB and DM, they should compete on all fronts for the next few years - even though there are bound to be some ups and downs.

I was surprised when folk were moaning about us losing to Chelsea as though we have a right to just batter any team. Chelsea aren’t “any” team and have a great squad and top manager. Wouldn’t be surprised if they’re up there or thereabouts next season in the league.

I think he is doing as you'd expect with that squad. Their defence will get ropey, and Thiago surely won't be around next season to lead it. They have some great young talent but I wonder if they need to lose one or two of them who will be demanding starting slots - like Tammy, Hudson-Odoi.

I think they could be right up there as favourites next season, but given the squad they absolutely should be.

So still the honeymoon period or are Chelsea going to be a powerhouse next season?

Under Lampard they were all over the shop.

Now they have a real shot at big ears, the FA cup and finishing 3rd in the league.

Never rated him at PSG but he seems the real deal.

Hopefully his outspoken habits return in the summer.

He could win nothing ending up 5th.
He took over a team in 9th looking lost and certainly not capable of reaching a CL final only 100 days ago.

He’s all the best coaches and conceded 8 goals.
Anyway you slice it he’s done amazingly well regardless how they finish.
