The new number 9…

I've convinced myself that:
1. Newcastle are willing to sell;
2. Isak wants to come;
3. We are will pay a transfer record £150m + fee; and
4. This man's groin is completely fucked and it's a matter of when we find out.
They could be doing a Torres on us that we did to Chelsea.

League and CL next year and bin off the domestic cups early doors please.

Just reminding you that the players who play in the early rounds of the domestic cups are not the players who play regularly in the league or CL and giving them game time to get them match fit actually helps our cause of winning the other two major trophies.

So no “binning off” - play the kids/reserves, try to win, but if we lose… that’s ok.

It takes away the focus of all the senior staff too. Play the u21’s then maybe but we know that’s not going to be the case.

In what way does it “take away” focus?

Playing the U21’s along with first team squad players who aren’t playing much is precisely what we DID do last year.

Otherwise, Marmadashvilli, Gomez, Endo, Badger, Nyoni, Rio, McConnell, Doak, etc may as well leave after pre-season, because the only way they get game time is if someone gets injured.

I think you completely underestimate how useful these games can be to the squad.

Why have this same argument every year? Just accept that Dreamie is always right in his world, meanwhile those of us on the real world side of the wardrobe can have our own views ... never the twain should meet

I am ever hopeful that Dreamie somehow sees the world through different eyes at some point.

They don’t damage them in any way.

The players that start in the champions league don’t play in the FA Cup and the players who start in the FA Cup don’t start in the Champions League.

It’s literally the opposite of what you’re trying to argue.

I’m not sure that’s always been the case mate.
you’re mostly right with Slot last season
Dreamy May be basing his statement on a broader historical sample.

I think ye are both right in that case

And if I’m right they may bring me in for the Middle East peace problem

Yeah, but the context isn’t historical - it’s about next season and Dreamie wanting us to “bin off” the domestic cups next season.

If we were playing the same players in every game, I’d agree, but the evidence from Slot is that he won’t do that and he sees the cups as an important opportunity to give players who don’t play much match time.

In the event we get close to winning either, then the senior players will play, but that’s a different proposition.

Playing the crap players is binning it off though

Depends who we’re playing.

Like I said, it’s good for the likes of Marmadashvilli, Gomez, Endo, McConnell, Nyoni, Rio, etc

Add in whichever FBs aren’t starting in the league plus, if they’re here or the replacements for, Elliot, Doak, Badger, Chiesa.. game time for Jota and Curtis if they’re bench warming for a bit.

I don’t see that as binning off and the more games we can do it in, the better.

I wish we’d played less of the normal starting eleven in the LC final last year - we might have played better.
