The new number 9…

Ekitike is the one for me. His all-around game is better than Sesko or Gyokeres and he will be a better fit stylistically. Let’s sign the big lovable giraffe!

He isn't good at finishing.

All the candidates are so fucking average. Yes, one of this lot might end up being a top end striker, but most of them won't. It's a massively inflated market where most will lose, and we already have an average striker that frustrates the shit out of us.

I'd be tempted to just let all the idiot clubs rip each other apart, there's nothing to be excited about. Bring in some unknown, some random old guy, anyone. Don't blow many millions on one of a historically bad crop of strikers.

Is there the possibility of Nunez going to the Saudi team where Duran is and him coming here on loan?

I'm not saying I fancy it but, as per Farky's post above, the striker market is fairly poor at the moment, don't want to be spending mega bucks on any of these IMO.

They all have a touch of the Hojlunds to me. Maybe one of them will come good.

I'm trying to get myself excited, if for no other reason than we're likely to buy one.

He's my choice too.

I'm sure I'll regret saying this, but finishing, like sex, is something that will improve with age maturity. Everything else is already there

If finishing is like sex, then wth age the more likely outcome is it happens more infrequently

If it’s Ekitike the fee will have to be reduced. It might happen but Frankfurt are in a good financial position.
The good thing about him is that he’s underperforming and not overperforming his stats, like Darwin. Which is why the stat nerds would never have gone for him.

Oshimen might be an alternative

Are you talking about football or dating?

Is this linked ourselves and Arsenal to different strikers every day just a dance to get the Sesko & Ekitike prices down to something more reasonable?

That's great, sign Osimhen and lose him for 6 weeks in January together with Salah. Makes perfect sense.

AFCON is a bit of a downer but let’s be honest. We’re not signing player B if player A is more suited to the team but is eligible for AFCON. That isn’t what’s best for the team.

Yeah, but it’s a consideration that might mean we pass on player A and Player B and wait until Player C, who is equally suited but not AFCON tied, becomes available.

Normally, I wouldn’t care - because the impact of missing January is overstated - it’s usually 2 league games, 1, potentially 2 FA Cup games and some Legue Cup SF games if we’ve made it that far.

This one’s way different due to the December timing - given players are required 2 weeks prior to the tournament - even teams just playing in the group stages means they’ll require players from end of first week I December till start Jan.

That shifts this one to missing a sizeable chunk of premier league games.

Yeah, for next season sure. But should we sign a player of lesser quality instead of Osihmen because of AFCON? No.

Absolutely - quality over compromise every day of the week.

Not sure what you mean about the “next season thing” - AFCON is a big problem this season.
