Defensive problems are par for the course with us.But on the flip side there were a few positives :

TAA's ball striking - he hits the best corners we've had for years.

Salah, Firmino, Salah - a really potent trio that will get better as their understanding develops.

Are there any more ?

It's alarming really how poor Ming was, after such a good season. It was likely he'd completely regressed to the season before.

Anyway, those were the main positives really. The front three is mouthwatering if they stay fit, while TAA is a great plus in terms of technical ability.

Great ball from Lovren to Firmino, but you pretty much covered everything.

TAA's crosses and set pieces were great.

The OP pretty much covered it. Midfield and defensive shambles, aside, we didn't lose a match in which we conceded three goals.

To be fair I didn't think Ming was as bad some people make out. I thought it was mostly a case of luck not being on his side, especially for the 1st and 3rd goals. I seem to remember him pulling off a world class save at close range too.

It's like he has to get dropped every fucking season just to remind him he has to perform. Just don't understand him. Wish we'd get a good replacement (or Ward steps up).

Best thing about us was that we did not play such a pressing game. Last season on average we had around probably 65% possession and also created fuck all decent chances against parked busses. This game we were more direct and did not endlessly probe against the bus door. Change maybe to our approach and players less likely to pull a hammy.

Would try taa in midfield ahead of gini. His delivery is spot on most of the time, he should be further up the pitch.
