He made a right gaff which lead to a chance where Benfica should've scored second but surprise surprise, Utd et Giggs survive.

Aimar was that player I always wanted circa 2002-04.

He still looks class 7 years on.

Yeah its alright, Quaresma was another one of my 'exotic' most wanted players.

I think its standard for the criteria for a player in that category to be either a) Shite b) Overrated c)perma-crocked or d)all of the above.

Uniteds reserve keeper looks better than their £20mil signing

SCM's Danish scout will be happy to hear that.

Napoli 1-0 Man City
Cavani
[/quote]

I was standing in PP today looking at Napoli at 15/2 thinking there's no way they'll be as good as they are in FIFA and left it at that.

City lucky to escape a Kompany blunder.

*Notes that Hamsik thinks Lampard is the best goal-scoring midfielder in the world. Avoids hiring him as a scout.

Attractive performance from the opposition... yep
Opposition dominant in posession... yep
Mediocre United performance... yep

I guess all that remains is whether United will draw or win.

Go get em Kelly

On the night Manchester City made their debut in the Champions League, and just rescued a draw after falling behind to Napoli at home, the Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson managed to steal the attention from his neighbouring club after his side's creditable draw in Benfica.

Ferguson lost his temper with the ITV presenter Kelly Cates, the daughter of Kenny Dalglish, the Liverpool manager, after the game.

Cates asked Ferguson why David de Gea, Ferguson's newly-acquired goalkeeper, was left on the bench. The youngster has had a less than impressive start to the season and was replaced by Anders Lindegaard.

"I don't know how you ask these questions," Ferguson snapped. "You're looking for stupid little things." Ferguson and Kenny Dalglish have a long and often tempestous relationship.

City came close to ruining their Champions League debut and required an equaliser from Aleksandar Kolarov to get a 1-1 draw at home to Napoli. After an impressive start to the match Roberto Mancini's side fell behind in the second half when Napoli seized on a Gareth Barry error and Edison Cavani drilled the ball home. Kolarov then stepped up in the 75th minute to fire home a free-kick and earn a share of the points for City.

United also fell behind when Oscar Cardozo opened the scoring but Ryan Giggs grabbed their equaliser with a fine drive from outside the area in a 1-1 draw in Benfica. Ferguson praised Lindegaard's performance. He impressed on his debut in the competition. But it only served to highlight question marks over big-money summer signing De Gea, though, following the Spaniard's hotly-debated start to the season.

Asked whether Lindegaard had given him a selection dilemma in choosing between he and De Gea in goal against Chelsea this weekend, Ferguson told ITV1: "No, not at all.

"David De Gea will play on Sunday. That was the understanding we had before the game, and it doesn't change. I don't know why you ask these questions, you're just looking for stupid little things. Anyway... it proves we have two terrific goalkeepers."

Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo thinks some referees allow players to get away with kicking him because he's rich, handsome and a great player - and they're jealous.

Nursing stitches in his right ankle, Ronaldo slammed the performance of Norwegian referee Svein Moen as "shameful" after Real Madrid started their Champions League campaign with a 1-0 away win over Croatian side Dinamo Zagreb.

I think it's because I'm rich, handsome and a great player. They envy me - there's no other explanation.
Ronaldo on why referees are jealous.

Ronaldo received a lot of close attention in the Champions League week 1 game and the stitches were needed after a tackle by Jerko Leko drew blood.

Real Madrid's Marcelo was sent off in the 73rd minute when he earned a second yellow card for diving under one of Leko's challenges and Madrid's players were unhappy with several refereeing decisions.

"It is always good to get off to a winning start," said Real's Portuguese star Ronaldo.

"However, I hope we will not have a repeat of this refereeing performance, it was shameful.

"Some referees allow them to give me stick like (the Dinamo players) did today. I think it's because I'm rich, handsome and a great player. They envy me - there's no other explanation.

"We are very happy with the three points we took, but I'm not so satisfied with the refereeing. I hope we never have this referee again."

A second-half goal from Argentinian Angel di Maria was the difference between the sides.

LOL.

Is Dimitar Berbatov still alive??? Seems like he hasn't played in fucking years.

Anyway, fuck the Champions League, it's painful as fuck watching when we're not in it.
