UFC

Couture is a legend. It's a shame he got caught like that, but that's the beauty of MMA. Those tiny little gloves give next to no protection from knockouts, they're just there to stop cuts really. Lesnar has nowhere near the talent that Randy has, but as mentioned above, he's just a freak of a man. He was pinning Randy down and using brute strength and sheer mass to pin Randy's arm down so he was unguarded and open to strikes on the ground. Randy did a good job of slipping away.

Florian is a great fighter, but Penn is incredible. I can't see him beating BJ. But then I never thought in a million years that a plonker like Serra would ever have beaten GSP.

For me, GSP, Silva and Penn are streets ahead of their competition.

Penn is incredible, and I fully expect him to beat Florian, but it should be a great fight nonetheless, Florian's kicking helps him gain an advantage in many ways and should open it ur just enough to create some entertaining fighting. The undercard fights this weekend were great.

Florian has improved massively since I first saw him on the ultimate fighter reality show. He just seemed very withdrawn and lacking in confidence. He seems to be well and truly off the leash now and brimming with confidence. The lighter divisions of the UFC have some great fighters. What they lack in raw power they make up for with speed and technique.

Florian's ground game is massively underrated as well. His ground and pound is among the best.

On a slightly separate note, isn't it amazing how the perception of the UFC has changed so dramatically in the states. When it first burst onto the scene, it was brandished as brutal and was opposed my many who quite openly asked for it to be banned. Not only has it overtaken boxing in terms of PPV revenue, but it's much more widely accepted now.

What really made this sink in was seeing Rashad Evans sparring in a cage on a Microsoft TV Ad. I never thought i'd see the day.

'running man' will be a reality in about 25 years time, I'm sure of it.

Or Death Race?

Preferable to the reality tv we have now.

Ladies and gents, may I proudly present for you, The Running Man.

Anyone else think the ref should have stopped the fight earlier? I think Couture took 40 blows to the head before the ref pulled Lesnar off him.

So looking forward.
Do you think Rashad Evans stands a chance against Forrest Griffin?
I'm not sure Forrest really impressed me against "Rampage" so I think Forrest is a clear favourite.
However Keith Jardine beat Forrest and Rashad Evans beat Jardine on the Ultimate fighter show.

Couture was still trying to resist and defend himself though. For a moment I thought he was going to be able to force his way out.

I agree. Also, the blows that Lesnar was landing were hammer blows. Nowhere near as powerful as a proper punch, but having said that, it is Lesnar we're talking about.

They are all different fighters since UF Season 1.

I really like Griffin.

UFC 92

Main event
Forrest Griffin Vs. Rashad Evans (Two former UFC TV champions, season 1 vs season 2)

Other interesting fights
Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira Vs. Frank Mir (A submission specialist Mir vs a fighter that has never been submissioned)

Wanderlei Silva Vs. Quinton Jackson (Silva has beateb Rampage twice already the fighter hate each other)

Three dream fights!
Whats your predictions?

WOW!!! What a night!
3 excellent fights
3 underdogs winning
3 knock outs!!!

I was especially happy to see Frank Mir beat Nogeira by knocking him out. He's never been knocked out before. Rashad Evans is the new light heavyweight champion of the world. Didn't think he'd beat Griffin to be honest.
I'm looking forward to the rematch between Frank Mir and Brock Lesnar and the presumed fight between Rashad Evans and Rampage Jackson!

Griffin is a good fighter but no way should he be world champ. Neither should Evans. Jackson will wallop Evans.

Mir looked as impressive as Nogueira looked poor.

I hope Mir knocks the shite out of Lesnar. He's all size and little talent.

I find Mir strange to watch, he looks much slower than he actually is, & many of his punches are telegraphed too!

He's still a great fighter, but nothing as good as he was before the accident.

Mir's striking was awesome. I had a feeling it was going to be Evans fight before the but not during i thought Griffin was dominating until the finish by Evans.

He was surprisingly accurate with his striking, and with plenty of power too. I lost count of the number of uppercuts he landed. Nogueira was poor.

I'll always have a soft spot for Mir for breaking Sylvia's arm. Sylvia's an average fighter who should never have made world champ. Whatever happened to Arlovski after he lost to Sylvia?

I like UFC if I record it, I can then fast foward through 5 ton of shite (knobs talking the same tired old clichés and rounds where they spend the whole 5 minutes on the floor). I must admit though I am looking foward to the Dublin one coming up.

Initially, the floor game can seem boring, but when you get to know the techniques and appreciate what's going on (sorry if that sounds patronising mate), it can be very entertaining.

Not for me and I have been watching it on/off since UFC 30ish so I know all about the technique. Don't get me wrong I have seen some brilliant stuff on the floor but the majority of it is meh IMO. I just like seeing people kicking 7 shades out of each other (hence my hopes for the Dublin one).

If they were both in prime form, that would be an amazing fight. Arlovski striking was amazing. He was so accurate, but powerful with it. Almost on a par with Silva. It's a shame Arlovski has a glass chin.

Oh, and he's metrosexual too. He turned up for a fight once with a right blokey hairy back. Once he made it big, it was as smooth as a baby's arse.

I think the current crop of Ultimate Fighter contestants could be ones to watch.

Ground game is brilliant if its two fighters going for submission defence submission. Technique can be as impressive as a big knockout, it shows how limited fighters who you think are good can be when they get taken to the mat!

The iceman chuck lidell just confirmed that his career in mma is over. Got knocked out by Shogun.
Anderson Silva is unbeatable right now.
