Mirko Vucinic's agent has ruled out a move to Blackburn Rovers, saying the Roma striker "deserves a more prestigious" club. The 27-year-old has been linked with a move to the Premier League and to Juventus, despite having two years left on his contract.

Alessandro Lucci told Sky Italia: "I have not heard anything. For now it's on standby because first we want to understand the intentions of Roma. Blackburn talk is just a rumour. It is a respectable club but I think Mirko deserves a more prestigious club."

Asked about the possibility of a move to Juventus, Lucci said there had been no contact. "The two clubs have never spoken," he said. "I met with Juve, but also for other players. To date there have been no negotiations. Juve are a prestigious club, like Roma. Vucinic will either remain in the capital, or will aim for a team of a similar level."

The Roma sporting director, Walter Sabatini, later admitted Vucinic's situation was still undecided.

He told Italian radio: "I tried to get him to think positively. He is very bitter. I remind everyone that Vucinic is a champion who has the technical ability only possessed by five or six players in Europe.

"The affection of fans is required for all players, especially for someone like him because he feels this low esteem.

"These are things that can be recovered with the help of Mirko. People have to tune into the psychology of the players, but players must also make their contribution."

Vucinic hit 10 Serie A goals for the Giallorossi last season but the team missed out on a return to the Champions League after finishing sixth.

Sabatini added: "If, on his holidays, Mirko finds the necessary serenity to be a Roma player he will make us win many games. If this does not happen, he will be a player on the market."

I don't watch much Italian football, but he's always struck me as being a pretty good footballer. If we do continue to play a 4-3-3 like a lot of the second half of last season he'd be a very good option for us

i'd have him, a very good player on his day. Providing he doesn't cost too much

Love that fucking goal.

I always remember Ryan savaging the defending to allow De Rossi waltz in. The Full back did do a Fifa style run to no where to allow De Rossi in.

Some figures do not see themselves in this new squad and Vucinic has made it clear he wants to quit the Giallorossi.

We talked things over and I tried to get him to be positive, but he is very upset. I remind everyone that Vucinic is a champion with the kind of skills that only five or six players in Europe can boast.

“He is always unpredictable and in terms of technique is almost supernatural. However, the affection of the fans is needed by all players, especially someone like Mirko.

He feels the fans do not respect him. This is a situation that can be resolved and I pointed out to him that some of it is down to his attitude. Fans must understand the psychology of a player, but it goes both ways.

The Montenegro international striker has been linked with Juventus and Blackburn Rovers, although his agent pointed out he can “aim for a more prestigious club” than the Premier League side.

“If Mirko can find his calm again, then we’d be happy to keep him,” concluded Roma chief Walter Sabatini. “Otherwise he will be put on the transfer market.”

Mirko Vucinic’s agent is in London for talks with Tottenham, but Roma are unimpressed with the £14m offer.

The Montenegrin has made it clear he wants to leave the Olimpico this summer following a row with the local fans.

His price-tag is thought to be €20m, around £18m, but reports from agent Alessandro Lucci’s trip to London are not encouraging.

It’s claimed Spurs offered only £12.5m plus £1.5m in performance-related bonuses.

Considering Vucinic also has interest from Juventus and Blackburn Rovers, Tottenham will have to raise that bid in order to begin negotiations with Roma.

However, there are also suggestions that Lucci could meet with Manchester United and Manchester City while he is in England.

The agent ruled out Blackburn last week by pointing out the club was “not prestigious enough” for Vucinic.

Could be a good pick-up for Spurs, I don't know if they'll go much beyond that price range though, they're reportedly short of cash this Summer and need to trim the squad.

I'll be a bit surprised if he goes to Spurs tbh. They need to ship out some of their strikers aswell.
