To be fair to my eys it looks as if VVD was a little bit too casual, ball exposed and then Sterling barged him just at the right angle as VVD stance was a bit unbalanced. But the recovery tackle from VVD was hilarious, amazing acceleration considering Sterling is no slouch. It was a clean tackle but it looks like there was also a sly "how dare you!" type push on Sterling as he won the ball back.

VVD is all about "how dare you." He genuinely gets angry when an opposition player forces him to sprint or tackle and he usually makes them pay.
