You can't argue his ability with that shot, he's brilliant at it. He was under zero pressure though, so thats what you get.
I still think it's stupid that Pearce didn't take him to the Olympics, it's more a case of Pearce wanting to show the press he can make controversial decisions.

anybody here watch the MLS ? what's the overall standard like now ?
I , weirdly for me , actually watched a MLS game a week or so ago . It was San Jose V LA and if i remember correctly it ended 4-3 to san jose , it was a pretty good game .
Anyway at the very least it looks like they're getting some decent support for teams . I read the league average was 18000 last season which isn't too bad really and seattle get 38-39000 . And some of them get right into it , ok it's a bit like europe with organised chants but fuck some of them go all game, those portland fans (in the beckham clip) never stopped .
Actually Seattle seem an interesting team , they have a barca style membership scheme "Sounders FC Alliance" where season ticket holders and members can vote on certain club affairs and can vote to remove the general manager .

I can't see it that way. Pearce wants to show he can cut it at this level. His best chance of doing that is to do as well as possible in the competition. Surely if he thought Beckham offered him a better chance of doing so, he'd have picked him? Giggs - surely a better bet? Bellamy? At this stage he's definitely a better bet?
Pretty much, though I kinda agree that he shouldn't show sentiment and he should be using this opportunity to show what he can do, I just don't see anything particularly promising with him, he seems to have the English football establishment embedded in his DNA, predictable, boring and nothing daring or adventurous about him at all.
To be honest, such was my hatred of all things manc I really never appreciated what Beckham could do until after he moved to Real. Since then I've actually spent time watching him as well as watching visions of some of his games at OT.

Exactly. It used to drive me mad how he'd monopolise every single dead ball kick for England (with Gerrard and Co looking on) and then balloon every one over the post, until he finally got one on target and the commentators would go crazy about his 'magical' dead ball skills!
Yep and just because Lord Sir David Beckham of Essex has not been picked for the Olympics the press will now have a breaking news clip every time he scores.
