Well it would be ruida not to

How do you loan a player who is already out on a loan and is apparently playing well for Sunderland.

It will take a significantly bigger loan fee paid to Sunderland to have them agree to terminate the loan? And why would his parent club agree since they have nothing to benefit out of this?

It's all really confusing.

I'm guessing here. Sunderland probably wouldn't mind a dedicated CB since they don't need RB cover with two 1st/2nd choices already there. I'm also guessing because the way their other summer business panned out they're not up to making him permanent. So a swap for an out and out CB would suit them if they get a couple of £M to incentivise them.

For Red Bull they perhaps see the permanent sale becoming unlikely so swapping to us where we have JoGo and Konate out of contract in the Summer and Dutch coach probably is attractive.

So I'd assume it will be a few Mill to Sunderland to release, a few million to RB for the loan and then an agreed optional end of loan buy fee of about €25M+add ons

Everyone happy

Although I'd normally be dubious of bringing in players the manager worked with previously, in the case of stubborn Slot this may mean he'll actually play the guy.

I don't mind this signing.

Like Timber, he's a versatile player. Can play FB, DM and CB. Jack of all trades, master of none, but with the chronic injuries we have at RB and CB, we could do with another body in there. He's quick and physical. A better option at CB and RB than Endo.

I know nothing about him apart from YouTube clips but Sunderland can't rate him highly if they are willing to let him go back. A few million is nothing compared to staying in the prem.

I think they are safe. They are 13 points outside the relegation zone. I had to check twice to believe it.

They rate him but will grant his desire to play for us and in the CL. They wan to add a midfielder to their squad.
It also helps that they have gotten the 27 players back they had the AFCON.

Looks like decent squaddie level, nothing more. He's going to have to pull up some trees if he wants a permanent deal and that's not a bad thing - extra motivation to perform. But squaddies are nice to have at times like these.
More importantly, he covers 2 positions, gives us options to rest and rotate and keeps Dom in midfield.
Makes a lot of sense.
From Sunderland's perspective, they've got a bloated squad and he's not played much this month, so makes sense for them too.
Reality is in the January loan market you only get a top-drawer player if he has an attitude problem or his club is stacked in his position and needs to save some cash.
