It did actually role off shin/ foot thoughI saw Ronnie Whelan scored one of the best goals ever for Ireland in 1988(i won't listen to anyone who says it was a miss kick/shin) asked who he played for, and ended up here nearly 40 years later.

You were 4 or 5 when it happened, surprised you remember much of itNot permanently, no. We effectively did for a little bit when the monarchy went into cold storage while Cromwell was in power but the people never wanted it.
That's some good tracing! I found quite some of my Irish ancestors round that time were getting hung by the Brits in the tower. Quite glad they all had kids early before getting lynched. An ancestor of mine (John Blakiston) signed Charles 1 death warrant. Fortunately, for him, he died before the reformation.
Very proud of my regicide roots, may try the same with the 3rd.
@Judge Jules do you recognise the signature as I am sure you met the man? Here it is, in case people didn't believe me - second signature in third column![]()

Yep... The graves family lived on the kilkenny side across the bridge in rosbercon (I think it's probably a few feet inside the wexford county line). They owned a shipping company and one of the sons moved to liverpool and bought some land and called in anfield Lane after where his family castle styled house was in rosbercon new ross.. I actually lived in that castle from a few months back in the early 90s as a caretaker as such..New Ross?
I was late to football, I was probably 5 or 6 when I was first introduced to it, partly due to my parents having no interest in it and being born & raised (until I was 4) in a small village in Scotland.
One of my neighbours introduced me to football (he was a Southampton fan, kind of a local PL team to where I grew up - halfway between London & the Coast), and once I mentioned this to my uncle & grandad they showered me with Liverpool propaganda. I very quickly got taught the rules via subbuteo, and absolutely loved having the 1996 home hit on a set of players. I had videos of Liverpool games on VHS, including the 5-1 against Everton highlights from MOTD that I realised about 15 years later were referenced in Poor Scouser Tommy.
Have never looked back. Long live subbuteo.
Yeah we all know that you neighbour, uncle and grandad are the same person, and they have never broken a sweat, even in pizza express.
How was Balmoral in your formative years?
@Judge Jules do you recognise the signature as I am sure you met the man?
No thanksNew Ross?
Ah Subbuteo. Save many a childhood. Loved it. Still have a set for my 14 year old, and he plays it with his mates in Texas
