I don't agree with the "drunk or on the payroll" bit, though I don't suppose that was meant literally anyway. I also don't agree Halsey did it with a conscious intention to cheat us. I don't even think we're the only victims. It's more subtle than that, essentially a matter of sucking up to a dominant bully (Ferguson) for fear of the effect that getting on the wrong side of him can have on your career. The LMA, the FA, the referees and the media are all terrified of the old bastard and the trouble he can cause them - witness the myriad times he pushes the envelope with his comments (or the absence of them, i.e.his boycott of the BBC because they ran that story about his son) and the absence of any consequences for him. It's your refusal to look these issues in the eye that's the real tragedy here.

Trying to give the benefit of the doubt to Halsey I suppose you could say that he have been extremely lenient with Jonjo on his first tackle and by not giving him a yellow he may have felt enough was enough with the second one which well fell into the yellow card category.
I suppose both Evans and Van Persie made a yellow and half tackles but as it was their first offence they got the benefit of the doubt.
I still think Suarez deserved a penalty more that Valencia did but at this rate Luis is really really really going to have to be fouled in the penalty area to earn a penno.
