Here's some for y'all.

Conor Coady will be better than Steven Gerrard.

Ok. Calm down.

But he really took that goal well didn't he? The way he made himself available with that deep surging run, the way he first-touched the ball at pace and the way he blasted it into the net just made me think of one young Gerrard.

Coady's obviously got a good reputation already because of his captaincy at English Youth levels etc. and I was personally very impressed with his display against Guangdongs.

Another gem in the ranks?

Yes.

Great to brilliant times ahead.

Id like to see him do what Flanagan did last season and put himself on the fringes of the squad/bench/a few starts if injuries hit us hard!

he has the advantage of being very good at defending too, always expected him to be a great future captain for us

Things are looking alot rosier with a few youngsters edging nearer and nearer to first team action and Flanno, Robinson, Kelly and Spearing breaking into the team. . If we have anything we'll have alot of fight and an understanding of what it means to work hard for the shirt. Hopefully we can add another Suarez to that and a defender or two and we'll be well on our way.

Good times.

I watched a great deal of Coady. Reserve games, U18 games and with the nationalteam.
My conclusion?

He's no Gerrard

He's more of a defensive midfielder. A tougher version of Michael Carrick. Yeah that's about right.

That is exactly what we need...

The Gerrard comparison was corny obviously.

That said Gerrard started out himself further back on the pitch compared to where he ended up excelling the most. Just saying.

And I've never seen Carrick make a run like Coady did albeit it beeing a friendly and all.
