Winter transfers

Will have knock on effect on future signings too. He has to improve on how potential players see him. Weirdly don’t remember much from his Feynoord days so maybe he is too new to have enough references from past players.

Agreed.

Theres two parts to this. Playing youth players - absolutely nothing for likes of Rio, Nyoni, Ramsay

Sold some of our best academy talent - Kelleher, Morton, Elliot, McConnell

It’s not the Liverpool way

Rio is 17 and it’s quite natural that minutes will be fewer when the team struggles and you shield them from pressure. That will improve when/if the team improves.
Nyoni has been poor this season. It’s been reported several places that he has struggled to develop.
Ramsay is shit and a perma crock. Played 5 mins in Scotland these last few seasons. Not an Acadamy talent imho.

Kelleher is 27 years old and wanted to leave for several years.
Morton we could maybe have kept but not sure he is good enough.
Elliott can’t even get into the Villa match squad. As if he’s the answer to anything for us.
McConnell is out on loan, not sold. Very highly rated by the staff and that’s why he’s out on a year long loan to get some experience. Has a chance to be in the first team next season.

The above has nothing to do with The Liverpool way, and Slot deserve a lot of stick this season but not this.

Agree in general, but a couple of those are not on him.

Kelleher wanted to play. Signing Mama is the writing on the wall.
McConnell is loaned out I believe.

Morton & Quansah are having better seasons than the players they were understudies for.

Injury crisis years ago mean that Trent got his chance. Now we would prefer to play our best cm at RB rather than give Ramsay minutes.

We would rather play a RB at RW than play an actual winger.

Maybe so, but we’ll never know because they weren’t really given a chance.
I just don't think slot could/wanted to motivate them. He's not a man manager. He's a tactician and he's a standoffish bell. Some players need an arm round them, some players need tough love. Slot gives them neither. The fact Salah (if you believe him) says he doesn't know why slot dropped him speaks fucking volumes.

Slots too busy thinking about the next guetta set in fucking Ibiza than he isn thinking how to integrate Isak to the club ffs

Salah should watch his performances so far.

That could drop the penny.

It's so disappointing. We've gone from THE place for youth to go to develop and get fast tracked, to a club to avoid.

On what basis though? Our starting right back is 22 and from our Acadamy. Our starting left back is 21. Gravy was 22 when he was given a starting role and developed into a WC defensive midfielder. Rio has been in the first team at 17. Leoni was to be given a role in the first team at 18.

If you’re good enough - you’ll play. But given the circumstances our first team have been under these last few months it’s natural that the likes of Rio get limited chances while we figure shit out.

We’ll have no problem attracting talent under Slot or a new manager. All young players say the same thing when they visit our facilities, see the team, opportunities and talk to our coaches.

Starting right back being 22 -established under previous manager, and we also spent 35m on another rb.
Starting left back being 21 - bought for 50m
Leoni got a Carling cup game, in spite of the CB playing being fucking diabolical. Also tried to buy another CB.
Rio being in the first team means nothing if you don't give him minutes. He's there to make up the numbers.

Sold doak, sold/loaned Elliott, sold Morton, sold quansah, loaned mcconnell, frozen out Ramsay, borderline frozen out Rio, crucified nallo.

I also disagree with the idea of "if you're good enough you'll play". Slot hasn't rewarded good performances with minutes. It's only injuries that force the hand.

We have an excellent youth setup and excellent facilities, but we don't currently have a decent pathway for them to step up.

I don't believe slot wants to develop players. I believe he wants ready made articles.

How? They won’t be buying him
From both sides. We've got a wage bill off, and claim a potential fee. They're claiming wages and no fee.

Something about it all fucking stinks. He scored their first goals this season and they stopped playing him the second he was just below the appearance count to trigger a purchase.

It screams fucking dodge

Disagree with most of this but can’t be arsed writing anything of length. Ramsay have been frozen out since Klopp was here btw.
It’s quite obvious that Rio would have played more if the team were playing well.

Which players deserve to get minutes from the other youth players?

That would only work if they buy him, but they won’t. It screams that he was brought in by Monchi but Dracula doesn’t fancy him.

Fair enough I don't blame you.

Rio isn't getting minutes when we are winning. He's getting minutes when we're chasing a game and slots desperate. If we need to be 3-0 up for Rio to get any hope of minutes, then why didn't we get another winger? He's not going to develop if he only plays when we're losing or cruising.

For me, Macca has been shite, so I would have liked to see nyoni get more minutes. I would have liked Ramsay (yes frozen out since klopp) to get minutes when we didn't have a fit RB.

I'm not asking for 90 minutes for any of them (apart from Ramsay when everyone is dead), but certainly they could have been involved for 5-10 minutes more frequently. It just seems like he can't be arsed.

Slots done the same thing as last year and picks his favourites, regardless of opposition and regardless of form.

Nyoni has struggled in training though, but made his Premier league debut yesterday.

Rio is 17. We’ve seen enough injuries with young players getting to many minutes anyway, so I kinda understand it as well.
There is no rush for his development and growth.
I would never have subbed on Rio yesterday to play against Argentina from 1978. He would have gotten killed.

Ramsay isn’t an option imho. He’s just a body and player that can’t even get a loan because of injuries. I wouldn’t give him minutes in a PL game at all. He’s a Leage One tier talent.

For all the talk about youth there aren’t many others at the moment that should be in the first team.

And how many of the other top teams are playing loads of youngsters? None.

Other top teams aren't struggling as much as we have been this year. We lost a stupid amount of games and looked objectively a load of shite during that time. And this isn't even a this season thing, it's a last season thing as well. Quansah, frozen out. Elliott, frozen out. Every cunt who was instrumental in us winning unlikely trophies under klopp when struck with injuries, has been mostly discarded or ignored. Last season papered over a lot of issues which are becoming more and more apparent as time goes on.

It's the fear of change that seems to be slots biggest problem. Even ignoring the youth issue, the lack of consistent minutes to chiesa is negligence. He seems our only competent winger ATM and he's getting 2 minutes cameos.

I dunno. We just seem to be struggling to integrate and blood youth in a consistent way.

For me, it's on slot.

That would only work if they buy him, but they won’t. It screams that he was brought in by Monchi but Dracula doesn’t fancy him.

And Buendia, who was poor last year, had a move to the Bundesliga fall through late. He's subsequently returned the form and been key for them.

Sliding doors, with Harvey trapped in them.

Is Joshua Abe rumour confirmed? Not sure Trent is a good case study in his current stature at RM.

Club has to get a handle on this, the performance of the youth teams at present doesn’t seem acceptable and that reflects directly on Hughes and Slot. It’s frustrating Slot still goes on about being out against Palace as a good thing. Slot is young enough to change this but maybe Hughes and Co prefer a man who doesn’t get involved in any man management. But currently they as a trio feel detached without a human touch from the outside.

The infrastructure investment we have seen from FSG must see rewards in the youth players getting time with senior teams rather than keep selling to biggest offer. Also, personally I don’t like the idea of us being ready made players unless they offer value and ability to take us levels with an acceptable price range like Virgil and Alisson. 140m for Isak not something I want us to repeat again. Wirtz was worth the risk based on his profile, age and unique ability within market.
