I just love how Jones ticks so many boxes: creative midfielder – check, a physical presence - yes (and will get even taller and stronger), someone to take care of the ball and play simple possession game a la Gini - check, goals from midfield - he got 'em. He really slotted in the team superbly.

With a nothing game midweek after and 5 days to rest before we should be going full strength.

Packie Bonner
Williams
Matip
Fabhino
Henderson
Gini
Jones
Mane
Salah
Jota
Ffs. Is this Dweamy doing a throwback to the old days to lighten everyone’s mood?

At least back then the dopey fucker was entertaining.

Very impressive. Still not used to seeing him play in midfield after watching him play on the wing for years during his academy days.
But him getting taller at almost 20? Not sure about that.

Took me a while to adjust too as I don't watch the academy but I remember his first 1 or 2 appearances were on the left wing.

I love his shooting and reckon we'll do the play from yesterday of pulling it back to him on the edge of the box frequently. The more confidence he gets the more he'll continue making late runs into the box.

Not sure this is about 'confidence' - he was given the more attacking slot of the midfield 3, with Gini & Hendo covering him.
In previous games, he's been more defensive, which is great - as he's got the discipline and ability to handle that role too.

Serious question, could the kid be on the verge of making the Euro's this summer?

As mad as it sounds we get through this then we can have a mini breather. Go proper XI full strength then rest as much as we can. Just don’t even send a team to midget land and give them a 3-0 win.

Back to Wolves. They’re shit. 5-0 win and Salah to get all 5.

I’m delighted for him, he’s looked the part for a long time at under age.

So I'm guessing the "P" word isn't offensive in Ireland? LOL
Educate me...

Hmm - only if as a holding role. He is way behind Grealish & Maddison who should be getting spots in that midfield.

His technical ability is really very very good and his willingness to attempt to (and at times succeed) go past defenders is something lacking in our midfielders bar Keita and Ox. Those traits give us ball retention and an ability to make things happen, ally that to his goal-scoring and he's a real gem in the making.

Apparently humans tap out growth at 21-22 so there may be a little more height to come.

Maddison is a little unreliable / inconsistent. I could easily see Jones preferred for his all round game though not sure Southgate sees it that way (and I prefer he doesn't - we want to see Curtis well rested over the Summer ready for our drive to a 3rd title on the bounce). Grealish is untouchable, as he should be.

A lot managers would now look to rotate in order to protect their young player from the terrifying ordeal of having to play another football match. We've all seen too many managers like this to automatically assume Klopp won't follow suit. I foresee Adrian and then an inevitable defeat.

I was underwhelmed. I understand this is contrary - sorry. (Undeniably, a great great touch for the goal, and lovely strike that rattled the post)

Not that I’ve ever witnessed. Not very common nowadays but back when he was Ireland’s no1 that association was never referenced.
It is quite common in Donegal, where Bonner hails from. When I am up there, I drink in a bar locally known as "Packie James'". One of those Donegal country bars that is dead until about 11.30pm then it gets going and you are seldom out before 4am
