What we really need is as many people who can score goals as possible, hence Kuyt plays.

Is the simple truth. Fuck what we need in a winger, the point is we haven't got what the chalkboard tactics say anyway, so we go with the best option there, ie the one who is more likely to create or score or both. Fuck the formation. I'd rather have Kuyt there than anyone else because he's the best option. Maxi has been shit more often than not away from home and he's unlikely to roll his sleeves up and get stuck in. Henderson ditto.

I think anyone who doesnt advocate Kuyt playing this weekend is a bit mental.

He's a workhorse & gets stuck in, exactly what we need. Regardless of that though, we have no better fit alternative to playing the right side.

Henderson would be destroyed on Sat.

Kuyt should be one of the first names on the team sheet.

Kenny isn't using him enough.

maybe kenny sees kuyt as a striker and not a midfielder.

It is indeed. The bit in bold was massively missing on Saturday - especially in midfield.

I was away for the game in Porto for a few days; but this has made interesting reading.
I would play Dirk in the Derby without hesitation, in any position. That said I don't disagree with Neil, just because he plays on the right does not make him a right side option. He has been played there by the last managers just to accommodate him, very often not without success but more often not. He is or should be back up striker, but can be useful for his work ethic and flexibility. If Henderson really is not cut out yet for that role Neil is right Maxi would be better, however and Neil did also mention this and it got passed over, Bellamy could be a great choice for the right, great work ethic, pacey , aggressive prepared to track back, an eye for goal a pass would link brilliantly with Suarez, Gerrard and Carroll.
As regards Carroll the more he plays the better he will get, he needs a run that's all.
Ryan popped in to this thread to lambast Carroll
and Adam, but Hendo has got off Scott free...why is that ?
Regards

Hendo and Adam were both way below par Vlad at the weekend. Carroll played better - not massively - but a definite improvement. Bellamy could be a good option on the right yes but the tracking back ability would be key and I'm not fully convinced about Bellamy doing that for 90 minutes.

as a striker kuyt has played more than our record signing.
