So did anyone apply for the 1st random draw?

Is anyone going to Brazil?

I applied for 7 tickets in the first draw and hopefully will get at least 4 of those.

Cannot wait for next summer it will be amazing

what are the chances of you making it out of brazil alive?

Well I've been there 3 times and made it in and out of over 50 countries in my time so pretty high I'd imagine but I guess you never know.

To be honest mate, the girls in Israel almost made you stay here permanently ... and they let you out because you begged. That doesn't really count.

I'd love to go, alas I can't afford it.
The way I look at it is simple.

Brazil is an amazing country with a brilliant night life.

The world cup is the biggest and best party in the world.

Either one on their own would be amazing.

Put both together and you have a trip you'll remember until you die.

I haven't made a world cup yet and with Russia an Qatar next on the list I don't have either of those.

So this is possibly my last chance while I'm young enough to enjoy it.

And even if cost 10-15k, that debt will be worth it for the experience and the stories for the rest of my life.

I had a lot of friends in Poland at the Euros and they said it was the best 2 weeks of their lives.

This... apart from the young bit and went to Poland.

I'm just an ickle bit worried about getting massively ripped off on flights now that engerland have qualified.

Anyone got any ideas for stupido crazy ways to get there?

I didn't realise Man Utd had qualified for the world cup.

*This post is the post of a bitter man who shall not be attending a World Cup/Euros any time soon.

Fly to Portugal first?

Take an extra month off and go on a container ship, some still take paying passengers.

I guess. All I know is that Brazil is a big country and if England are in the South I'm gonna be in the North and vice versa. England fans are all massive whoppers and need to be avoided.

The best bit of news last night was the last minute saving of Mexico who scrambled their way to a qualifier with New Zealand. Hopefully they'll win coz I want to follow them... they will defo be having the best laugh of the tournament apart from Brazil... and you can't follow Brazil, you just can't. It's like following the Yankees or Real Madrid or whatever. And tickets will be off the charts for Brazil games innit.

If Greece make it I will be cheering on their particular shitty brand of football.

*depressed smiley*

Nearly did but didnt have my passport number so tried to apply on the 10th at 5pm at which point the applications were closed even though FIFA said 10th was the closing date but didnt say what time. Morons, must have been Qatar time.

@Woland - fly to Argentina or another neighboring country, and then a flight from there? Or there must be flights there from countries in Africa too ...

I'm looking at flying either into middle America and working my way down or somewhere in South America and working my way up as direct flights from OZ to Brazil are insane.

That's shit, it was actually well dodgy you could apply as many times as you liked as long as you created a different account. I would have thought that Password number would be a unique identifier but it wasn't.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if you can buy tickets outside the games at inflated prices.
I'm sure you will be able to even though Fifa have adivsed you wouldn't be allowed into the ground unless you are the main ticket holder on your group of tickets at each match.

UEFA said that unless the name on your passport matched the name on the ticket you would not get into Euro 2004 matches. Well I attended three games and my name was not that on the ticket. I still got in.

Still I suppose it helped that the name on the tickets was Jack Warner....

@Woland

My company sail from Tilbury to Santos each week - transit time about 28 days. Can get you on as a stowaway maybe. Filipino crew as well so I'm sure you'll have a laugh on the way.

Alf Tupper worked his passage as a steward on a luxury liner in the Victor annual 1981.

Alf Tupper is grit and steel, sportsmanship and raw talent all wrapped up in a bag of chips. He's a national sporting treasure.
