They are top.. behave..

They do expect either league or CL as a minimum though. Anything less usually results in the boot at the end of the season.
I know I know

There's no one ready made. We gave to hope someone can make the step up

I’ll never understand this ongoing obsession some have with Rafa. CL was amazing and was good / on the verge of greatness for a couple years but on the whole a super frustrating guy.
Blasphemer!!!

I wouldn't be adverse to an interim manager until the end of the season, but that's probably as risky as letting Slot ride this out. CL qualification is essential, and that's where it all hinges really. I don't see too many candidates I am excited by or who would be available now. Glasner seems the obvious choice, if only for the fact that a) he understands the league and the need for physicality and athleticism and b) they seem very "together" as a group of staff and players, which we quite obviously don't.

There's no way we would get Benitez. He is not a long term solution and as he is already in a job he will cost too much as an interim, especially as we would already have to pay a fortune to sack Slot.

I know, and I don't think he'd even accept an interim gig when he's already made a commitment to the Greek team

Oh, I think he probably would! He'd fancy his chances of getting the job full time.

Won't happen though.

Are people seriously talking about Benitez coming back? Really!?

No, he'd be terrible.

The thing is though, what do the club do if Slot carries on being as shit as this? There has to be a point where enough is enough.

In those circumstances, an interim manager is fairly likely, and someone who knows the club and who is popular with the fans is also likely.

I highly doubt we would turn to Benitez. Not only is he well past his best, the owners are hardly gonna want 6 months of his moaning, but the candidates are fairly thin on the ground.

There's no chance of Rafa coming back. I'm not being serious. But, not gonna lie, at the moment I'd trust him more than Slot to get us to the CL final.

i think he’s well past his sell by date in top level management but who knows what might’ve been in a well run club allowing him to break transfer records twice in one summer

Poll needs a refresh and updated with;

- Klopp
- Xavi
- Zidane
- Motta
- Stevie (for a laugh)
- Ange (for dreamie)
- Heitinga (why not)
- Ancelotti (see if he fancies a club/national double committment)

i’d go straight for ancelotti if i thought he would but there’s no chance

fabregas needs to go in as well for the hipsters

Rafa has struggled since leaving LFC. He is a brilliant technician but has poor man management quality. What about Zidane? 3 CL trophies. Doesn't know English but a translator can be hired.

I can ask one of the Mods to close this thread and you start another? @mark1975

In the short term and the long term, it doesn't matter; Klopp returning for any length of time is better than any other option by fucking miles. We have all been clamouring for him for years before he joined us, he even surpassed those wild expectations, and would have more were it not for City's bullshit. He's available, costs nothing, is the best man-manager going, understands the Jota situation better than anyone, and somehow gets more out of a squad than their talent suggests possible. People can say “next” instead of “ex” all they want. Try telling that to Margot Robbie’s ex. Same thing.

His heart and energy have to be in it, of course, but that's my only concern. Deep down, we all fucking love it when our previous employment goes to shit when we leave. Coming back to save the day has to carry some appeal.

Rafa? Kenny? What's next? Digging up Joe Fagen? Things aren't that bleak.

We have to move on From Klopp though, and I'm reluctant to go back again for that reason.

He's impossible for a successor to replace. It's not a good medium-long term move.

I live in hope Slot pulls it together this weekend. I expect a win vs PSV in the CL as we all do. A defeat would bode v badly.
