Biggest game of the season just 3 days away. Villareal rested 10 players yesterday but still won 2-0 away at Valencia. Also secured 4th in La Liga and CL qualification next season.
They're a very good team, no doubt about it. So this will be tough.

I'd go:

Ming
Clyne Lovren Kolo Moreno
Milner Allen
Lallana Firmino Coutinho
Sturridge

Sadly we might have one to many injuries to win by 2 goals but it will surely be a great European night at Anfield. Fingers crossed we can do this.

These injuries have really really hurt us.

I wasn't particularly impressed by them last week but they will probably be wanting to see improvement just as we do.

I think we can do it but any of the sloppy, tired and indecisive shit we've seen in the last week and we're out.

It's our last meaningful game of the season if we don't win ... I really will be shocked if we come out like that.

Yes, that's the side I would probably go for. Although I woudk be tempted to look at options for Benteke and Sturridge to start, especially as Firmino has been total shit for months.

Yeah, I thought about Benteke and as you say Firmino hasnt gotten into the form he had prior to the injury. But I think that will set us up to attacking and a bit vulnerable on the break.
Benteke is probably a better option off the bench if we're chasing a goal late in the game.

Not holding out much hope. Think this could be 1-1 or we might nick it 2-1 but I think we'll fall short. That was a really shitty result last Thursday.

Benteke the saviour! He probably needs an Ojo for service though. It is written in the stars

I would also consider both Benteke and Sturridge. But I assume we will go for a more safe option to keep them at bay the first half. An early goal against and it will be impossible to break them down.

I dont want Lucas in there. I would love to see Milner put on the right together with Coutinho and Lallana behind the striker, but the central with Lucas and Allen will be to slow, to static and to easy overplayed. Can is a big big loss in this game. So is Origi.

wasn't impressed with villarreal first leg, then again was less impressed with klopp's tactics going into the game.

of course it's still doable but I see us going out on away goals.

as far as the XI goes, it picks itself really...lucas and skrtel are finished here.

klopp, please put whatever differences you have with sturridge aside for this game, enough faffing about...we need him to have any chance of going through.

mignolet clyne toure lovren moreno allen milner lallana coutinho firmino sturridge

2-1

Come the fuck on!!

Emre Can is in contention to play vs Villarreal on Thursday. #lfc

Can has made a speedy recovery from his ankle injury. #lfc

I fucking love emre can , it'd be massive if he were fit enough to play. His intensity and work rate also goes some way to prevent us dawdling when in possession.

3-1. Lallana to score two and a cracker from milner

That just proves that they're not bottlers like we are.
Too harsh?

They've toughed out lots of games they could have, and probably should have lost. Something we did all the time back in the day.

Benteke scored a goal off a corner but he did nothing else of note to contribute to the overall play. A few layoffs and much running into blind alleys.

He has no chance in hell to start. If Klopp loves playing players like Firmino and Divock in big matches, there is no place for Benteke.

Huge game, hopefully we start really strongly and score early doors.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Lucas start.

I hope we demolish this Villareal side that really isn't that special at all. I hope Klopp gets his balls back in order for this game. Tactically the first leg was the worst we have seen from him so far in EL. Possibly the worst game of them all. Spineless and gutless on all levels.

I hope Sturridge shows us all once again what a class act he is. I hope Klopp offers him the opportunity.

PS: Can't help laughing at all the posters who said that we shouldn't bother with EL. Two matches away from a CL spot. Still feel like that??

Firstly, we've won nothing yet, so it's a bit premature to be smug, and secondly who knows what our league form would have been like had we not bothered with the Uefa Cup, especially considering the state of the league this season. Thirdly, don't be a dick.

Mr Hypersensitive...fucking christ.

I think I'd prefer to qualify via our league position, as that is a better reflection of actual quality and form. Finishing 8th and (not yet) winning a trophy is nothing to crow about. We've been shit most of the season.

You'd rather come fourth than win the Europa League?

Two Dortmund-at-home type performances away from a European trophy and CL football next season.
One Swansea/any-other-pathetic-performance-you-care-to-choose away from a truly miserable season.
Klopp must have quit the list of ins and outs for this summer.

Don't be silly. A major factor in our being two matches away from winning the League a couple of seasons ago was the fact that we decided not to enter the EL that season. A major factor in Leicester winning the Prem this season has been their absence from Europe. Different times, different priorities.
