Is there a thread on it?

Anyways been dragged into the Supercoach (Fantasy footy) and Footy tipping leagues at work. Fantastic stuff and really getting into the AFL now.

Who else watches it?

St Kilda look very strong this year and Hawthorn have been awful for the defending champs.

How long are you staying in Melbourne DB?
[/quote]

I'm here for the long haul now.

Got the 4 year sponsored working Visa.

I'm sure we'll bump into each other at some stage. Why would anyone want to leave Melbourne. It has everything bar the English football at a decent hour. Festivals, sports, work, great nightlife, better women and weather that doesn't require a jacket every single day.

I'm sure we won't.

No offence like but I eat, drink, live, work, visit, socialise, etc etc in a different Melbourne from you I suspect.

Each to their own, I won't lose any sleep over it and I'm sure you won't either. Which begs the question why ask in the 1st place.

It does indeed but so do a lot of sports until you follow it properly.

Dear Lord. Are you serious?

Just because you begin a sentence with "no offense" doesn't mean that the words that follow won't cause offence.

I like Essendon. because of their kit. Well smart.

Are Clifton Hill still going? I used to vaguely watch out for their results because an ex-girlfriend lived on Clifton Hill in Bristol.

Same as my home team in Ireland. Essendon are very competitive and difficult to beat if they are within a couple of scores going into the last quarter. They already have some very impressive results most notably on Anzac day.

They'll make the top 8 but will do well to get into the semi's.

In retrospect, that does look a bit harsh.

I actually didn't mean it to come across so rude, but anyway. DB drinks in Irish bars and lives in St Kilda. Without sounding like an elitist twat, I pride myself on avoiding such things.

Anyway, ho hum, I'm sure we'll cross paths at some stage.

As for the topic; yes massive fan. Bombers fan too. They probably won't make the 8 actually DB, as well as Ryder's done, they'll struggle long term without Hille there. Bellchambers is too young, Laycock is too shite, and Ryder will be fucked come Round 22ish.

Great to see how they take the game on though.

Ha I have changed a little from when I first arrived. Live in Richmond and don't go to any Irish bars (never been a fan of Irish bars in the first place. Full of exactly the type of people I don't want to meet)

I'll be surprised if the bombers don't make it. Their approach the game is fantastic and with so many youngsters trying to make a name from the themselves I think they will surprise quiet a few this year.

Hawthorn have been awful, even with the injuries.

Saints are going great guns at the moment. Hope they can keep it going all season. THey had a great start a few years back but were well spent by finals.

I follow the Saints, but don't really get in to footy that much, only ever been to a handul of games.

Personally find that it can be a very dull game, particualry when another team is dominating.

There aren't many "Irish" bars worth going to in Melbourne. The Quiet Man is probably the pick. I'd rather throw myself off the Westgate than go to PJ's or any of the Bridie's.

I like the sport but don't really have a means to follow it.

I picked Kangaroos as my team when i went to Melb based on the game i went to being like 54-52 at half time and I preferred the name of the Kangaroos to the Magpies. The game ended something like 109-62 to Collingwood. Doh!

Trust me.. you made a very good decision to not support Collingwood.

Been to watch the Dockers twice this season, they lost both games.

Never really been in to Aussie Rules prior to moving here but it's a good day out and I enjoy the game itself.

saw the hawks three times last year at the mcg and used to watch it when it was on channel 4 years ago!bad start to the season still fancy buddy and the boys for third or forth spot though

Carlton St kilda this weekend.

Should be an entertaining 1st half at least before St Kilda pull away.

Round 14 is the big one with St Kilda coming up against the Cats.

Can't see the Saints beating the cats at their own game but will be a cracker non the less.

Western Bulldogs are looking good of late as well.

St Kilda have a notably different gameplan to Geelong.

I think its very similar so much so that it looks as if they have copied their exact style.

I guess we will see in Round 14.

They haven't.

They've adopted Hawthron's 'romaing zone' style, and taken it to another level, with manic pressure starting higher up the field.

It's pretty much nothing like Geelong's gameplan.

Agree with that although St Kilda do have a lot of bigger players through the middle (everywhere even), much like Geelong and I suspect that is what reminds DB of Geelong.

Good game last night. As was the Adelaide v Essendon game last weekend. Agree with Ryan that Essendon will not make the finals but they are a good team to watch and will continue to improve next year.

I have been really impressed with a lot of the young players coming through this year right across the competition. My pick of the lot so far has to Daniel Rich though, he's going to be a star.

Yeah Rich looks good, but it's not hard to do so alongside Black, Power, Adcock, Sherman and Drummond.

I've been seriously impressed with Ziebell. Looking like a leader already even in that shite side.

Last night's game was simply wonderful. As good a contest as you'll see. 12-0 for the Saints, they won't win the flag though.

They are learning to handle the pressure.

They are easily Geelongs biggest threat now.

Loved being at last weekends game, nailbiting to the end.

Fev is a big time choker.

Setanta O' H is becoming a very solid player.

Great, another sport you know fuck all about.

Setanta would have been cut in the summer but for having another year on his contract. He's been here for 5 years now, and still hasn't got a solid position in the team. He couldn't even get a look in this year until Waite got injured. The only reason he did alright last week was due to St Kilda not really having a proper match up for him.

Fev's a choker? Fucking hell. He's one of the best kicks for goal in the last 20 years of AFL. Were you not basing your opinion on a couple of missed kicks against the Hawks and the Cats, you'd know that for years (in a truly shite Carlton side) he's been one of the comp's leading goalkickers. 99 last year in case you forgot.

He's also currently the leading scorer in the country.

"Last year's game when he could have got 100"

What, you mean the game where he kicked 7 goals against the 2nd best side in the comp (at that time) despite having 2 players hanging off his back the entire night, and playing against a defensive set-up that Clarkson actually admitted was put there to stop him from getting to the ton?
He's won a Coleman Medal in a fucking shite side, he kicked a dozen against Collingwood years ago, he's been the Blues leading goalkicker for 6 straight years, and he's an All-australian. I could start to list some of the games where he's won the match off his own boot by kicking 8+ goals, but I'd be here all day and I'm talking to internet autism anyway.

And spare me your "I've been to see Carlton play at least 3 times live" speech please.

It actually irritates me that I'm arguing this with you.

Another non performance from Fev at the weekend.

Can't wait for the Saints vs the Cats this weekend.

Should be an awesome game.
