Summer Silly Season 2016

Everton are going to start spending money with all the finesse, planning, and strategy of a drunk Chinaman in a casino at 3am.

Expect some bemused-looking players posing in Everton tops soon, after their clubs are offered twice what they're worth, and salaries in excess of £100,000 a week.

EDIT: Some quick research has shown that, in typical Bitter fashion, some fans have already decided that their new owner is actually a fraud, bribed the mayor to pretend he had the required funds to buy Everton, and will sell all of their top players and replace them with cheaper alternatives, bleeding all transfer profits and TV revenue out of the club.

I think I prefer their version.

City have a current net spend of about 140mill. Presume the FFP powers that be wont notice anything fishy here and will just carry on regardless.

Koeman didn't seem to operate that way previously

And why bother signing that fella from Leicester? Anyway, see my EDIT above. Very amusing.

But any new owner - especially at a club like Everton - needs to get the fans onside, and while they reckon they have "mugged off" City with the Stones fee, they're expecting all that cash to be reinvested. So there will be a at least one "WTF" signing, I think.

They're spending 15 mill on a 32 year old Williams.

Is it? The Arabs don't care about money, and Chelsea offered £40m last season. It was always going to be around that price.

They spent £42m on Mangala

Yes. Stones isnt a 50 mill player.
It was always going to be in that range but he isnt worth it.

So its an insane fee for that type of talent/player.

Both Eric Bailly and John Stones are 22 yrs old. Seems like the Manchester clubs are paying for/gambling on their 'potential' and banking on them to be a mainstay for years to come.

Meanwhile Eliaquim Mangala and Wilfried Bony have been left out from Man City's CL squad. Bony shouldn't be short of takers.

Mangala has been shocking for City. They've spent 180 mill £ on trying to find a partner for Kompany..

Yeah, or the players they really wanted were too expensive or their club wouldn't sell.

When you pay a big premium for a young player with massive potential and it works out - they stay for a while/ win loads/ or sold on for a gigantic amount - etc etc - it's a stroke of genius: Rooney, Ferdinand, Pallister, Lampard, Rush, Ramos, Aguero, Marquinhos, etc

But there's a load that don't work out: Saviola, Anderson, Denilson, Keirrison, Diego, Robinho.

I think they're up to £350,000,000 (gross) in the last 3 seasons but then again United's signing of Pogba leaves them about £50m shy of £500,000,000 (half a billion!) in the same period.

Actually I've just checked and our net spend is not far off City's although we financed ours with £200,000,000 of sales whereas City only sold £80,000,000 of talent.

These are all approx* figures............(taken from soccerbase.com) *allow for a possible +/- of about £10,000,000m due to the fact I don't have a calculator to hand.

Season's 2014-15.....15-16.....16-17 Combined

United spent £450,000,000 gross..........and net is £355,000,000
City spent £350,000,000 gross...............and net is £270,000,000
Liverpool spent £320,000,000 gross.......and net is £130,000,000
Chelsea £280,000,000 gross..................and net is £66,000,000

Everton have been handed a gold platter here, I'd argue this is a worse signing than £50million Luiz. Stones is such an overrated defender, he can pass the ball well and dribble a little bit, apparently this excuses his dreadful positioning and propensity to give away stupid goals whilst trying to show the world he's a "proper footballer". I'd argue he's like Agger when we purchased him, just not as good, his stock is grossly overstated due to him being English and being a ball player, I'm not sure why, but it's like people think that any defender who can play the ball a bit is automatically Mats Hummels, it's not true, and in the case of John Stones, well he's much more Lucas Leiva at centre back than he is the German maestro.

I think you've mixed your gross and nets up.

Imagine spending 80 million plus on this fat bastard.

Everton had a 18 mill bid for Bolasie rejected. They'll probably up that now.
Palace want 30 mill. Benteke to CP might happen if Bolasie moves.

Problem is they can afford it without batting an eyelid. They've wanted Guardiola for years and they're going to give him whatever he wants regardless of cost. He'd have to rack up a string of poor decisions before they even thought about pulling the plug on him and on their spending.

Fucking hell. How much?

He's 27 and has scored a grand total of 9 Premiership goals in his entire life.
