THE ASHES... 2009

Anderson is going to be classed as an all rounder by the end of the Ashes.

135-5. Flintoff has bowled at an average of 91mph. very impressive. Anderson has been on the money too and Onions is looking good.

I forecast the Australians won't get 550 in their first innings! Anderson and Onions will skittle the buggers out for a modest total. :)

Unless Siddle and Hauritz can get 200 runs each, i think you're probably going to be right Portly.

Now Gilchrist has retired, I don't think there is much danger of the Aussies making a comeback in this innings!

;D

Make them follow on or not?

Holding and Botham both seem to think it should be a given that we force them to bat again. Personally i think the team should consider the England supporters when making this decision, chasing say 150-225 could be very twitchy bum time. Get a lead of around 500+ (hopefully) and then there should be around 2 days left to knock over the convicts.

Test matches have been won by the team forced to follow on. The Indians beat the Aussies that way a few years ago.

So whats the predictions then? 400?

Warne was superb in the commentary box today.

Yeah, he was good. But then so are just about all of them, I love listening to Holding, Hussein's excellent as the '3rd Man' analyser, and Bumble's fantastic too.

I think the tailend can frustrate again. the pitch isn't doing that much, and I wouldn't be surprised to see them get to 450.

That said, the Australians will get to 550. I suppose it all depends how quickly they do that, and wthether they can force more than a draw out of this, cos that's the way it looks like going.

Hmmmm

Its almost like the Aussies have read this thread and are trying to make Ryan look like a cunt.

Come on, he was right about the English tail though. Just spectacularly wrong about the Aussies.

Anyone think that Johnson might be dropped for the next test if Brett Lee is fit? He is having a mare in this test.

"Just spectacularly wrong about the Aussies."  Is that all? ;)

Johnson - interesting question.  On balance my money would be on them keeping him in the team next time out.  If he's on his game - and admittedly he's miles away at this point - he's the best they've got with the ball, and they won't lightly abandon his run-getting potential, which Lee won't come even close to replacing (though they may well try to tweak the line-up elsewhere to fetch Lee in somehow).  Should Johnson have another poor game in the next Test, though, all bets are off.

There are few better sights in cricket than Flintoff charging in against the Aussies with new ball in hand.

That link that changed to 3some Lesbian porn and I missed the wicket.

It's only a small complaint.
