I thought ched evans got banged up?

Dated 24 Mar 2013

[article=http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/ched-evans-teaching-prison-inmates-1781500#ixzz2dqbxM4WT ]Rapist footballer Ched Evans has landed a dream prison job, teaching soccer skills to inmates.

Evans, 24, who was jailed for raping a drunk 19-year-old in his hotel room after a night out, is working as a £7-a-week gym orderly.

A source said of the ex-Wales and Sheffield United striker: “He’s in demand to organise training regimes.”

Another source said he had “landed on his feet” at Wymott prison, in Leyland, Lancs, adding: “It is better than mopping the landing.”

Evans, of Crewe, was on £7,000 a week at United before his conviction.

At Caernarfon Crown Court last April he was jailed for five years for the rape in Rhyl, North Wales.

It was ruled the girl was too drunk to consent to sex.[/article]

There's quite some shockers in there, and defo some that would do a job for a championship team. Players like Danny Murphy and Anton Ferdinand.

Can't believe Adriano is on a free! He used to be a beast. He's probably just a fat beast now.

Except Danny Murphy is retired.

Cherno Samba fuck me. Remember when we were going to sign him from Millwall when he was about 14

This thread is like some scene from Henry IV part 2:

SHALLOW: And what of Saha?
SILENCE: Retired, sir.
SHALLOW: Oh, retired? But what of Murphy?
SILENCE: Retired. Yes, quite retired.
SHALLOW: And Samba? He is retired, too?
SILENCE: Yes. We shall all follow, cousin.

Some of those fuckers on that list are retired longer than Stan Collymore.

Some of them are big money Roy Keane signings - Anton Ferdinand, Craig Gordon

Michael Johnson - strange why he's on that list. I did read that he didn't want play football any more due to his mental health / alcohol / gambling issues. It's a shame, incredibly talented young chap.

Cherno Samba fuck me. Remember when we were going to sign him from Millwall when he was about 14

Played for a 2nd divison team over here last season... I think that shows the quality and level of his talent...

KEWELL NAMED MELBOURNE HEART CAPTAIN

Socceroo star Harry Kewell's bid to relaunch his career back in the A-League will come with an extra responsibility this season – the captaincy at his new club, Melbourne Heart.

Kewell was on Wednesday named skipper at the Red and Whites as coach John Aloisi looks to tap into the veteran striker's vast reserve of experience to lead a group containing a lot of young players and experienced foreigners new to the A-League.

With the sort of exquisite irony that sport so often delivers, Kewell's first match in anger with the armband on will be against his old side, Melbourne Victory, with whom he endured, rather than enjoyed, a frustrating A-League debut season in 2011-12.

Kewell is known for leading more by example rather than by word, so Aloisi will look for him to display his leadership skills through his deeds on the pitch rather than through any blinding oratory or exhortation in the dressing room.

That was also the message from the man himself, who said at a press conference at the Melbourne CBD headquarters of the club's major sponsor, Westpac, that he was "not a screamer and a shouter".

"I like to do my talking with the ball. I believe if you lead by example, the players will follow."

Kewell has captained his country on a number of occasions, but never any club side. He has, however, played under some inspirational leaders, particularly Lucas "The Chief" Radebe at Leeds, a respected South African centre back, and Steven Gerrard at Liverpool.

Kewell also nominated current Socceroo skipper Lucas Neill – "he's a wonderful captain to play under as well" – as the sort of captain he will take his cues from.

The rising 35-year-old certainly has achieved more than almost any other Australian player, with a Champions League and FA Cup winners medal, gained during a lengthy spell on Merseyside with Liverpool, and it is the know-how from playing with the biggest clubs and at the highest level that Aloisi will be expecting him to impart to a dressing room with a number of fresh faces this year.

Aloisi said the decision was not a difficult one. He has played with Kewell in the national team, and knows more than most what he has to offer.

"Over the past weeks he's shown the leadership qualities we are looking for. He's been a positive influence on and off the pitch with the players. The way he prepares himself ... he leads by example, and demands all the players follow."

This is a massive season for Kewell, who has been overlooked by Socceroo coach Holger Osieck for more than a year now.

The fact he has played very little football in the time since he left Melbourne Victory at the end of the 2011-12 season has counted against him, but Kewell is raring to make up for lost time.

To get back into the Socceroo squad for Brazil "is the reason I came back here. I came to get a solid pre-season under my belt to show to Australia that I am ready to play a whole season in the A-League and to give myself every opportunity to be part of the Australian squad going to Brazil."

Of the captaincy, he said: "It's a great responsibility to accept, and I am really looking forward to it. It's not only me that's the captain; we have a whole squad here that are leaders. I know it's going to be challenging, but I have played under some great captains in my career and I have learned from them."

Kewell said the feel around Heart was very different from his experience at Victory, which is by far the bigger club, having a much larger fan base. But he was diplomacy itself when asked to expand.

"My time at Victory was good, but I have moved on now. There is a different buzz around this club; they are doing something different and unique."

And he was unabashed when asked about Heart's ambitions for the season. Nothing less than a championship would be the aim, he said.

"I dream big, I think big, that's what I want to achieve. There's no point about thinking of coming second."

There's always been a bizarre rumour that Redknapp fecked him off after the player poured cold water on his head. I imagine drugs, drink and generally being shit also had a role to play.

Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp has admitted he thought David Bentley’s behaviour in the aftermath of their victory over Manchester City last season, which guaranteed Spurs fourth place in the Premier League, was “disrespectful”.

Although he acknowledges there are no hard-feelings towards the midfielder, who is currently on loan at Birmingham City, and it was just a bit of fun, Redknapp suggests he would never have behaved like that during his playing career.

The former Arsenal player soaked Redknapp, who was conducting a post-match interview for Sky Sports following their victory courtesy of Peter Crouch’s goal, and Redknapp concedes his player’s actions left him less than pleased.

Redknapp told Helen Chamberlain on Absolute Radio: “Well I’ve got to be honest, Helen, it was a bit of fun, but I wasn’t best pleased with it, I’ve got to be honest with you.

“I just thought it was a bit disrespectful if I’m honest about it, to tell you the absolute truth, you know.

“I could never imagine doing that with Ron Greenwood, who was my manager when I was a player, or Bobby Moore doing it to the manager.

“But no, David’s a good lad, I just think they got a bit carried away on the night.

“You notice it was all lads who didn’t play who did it, it was none of the boys who actually played...”

Although Redknapp tried to dismiss the incident, Bentley paid a heavy price for dancing in front of the cameras next to his soaking boss, he was sent to the reserves and the next two season found himself juggling minutes at West Ham United, Birmingham City and Blackburn Rovers.

Haha, I love seeing Redknapp getting angry over stupid things. That smile... he's furious

Bobby Moore and Ron Greenwood=David Bentley and Harry Redknapp.
Deluded old fucking fool.
