Neymar to join Real Madrid for £53m

By Harry Harris, Football Correspondent

ESPNsoccernet understands Neymar is set to rank among football's top earners as he has agreed a summer transfer from Santos to Real Madrid in principle.

Neymar, 19, is considered one of the brightest talents in world football having shone for his club Santos and also on the international stage for Brazil.

Indeed, Brazil legend Pele recently expressed his belief that the winger has the potential to rival Barcelona star Lionel Messi as one of football's most talented players.

Neymar was strongly linked with a move away from Santos in the summer, with Real, Barcelona and Chelsea suggested as potential suitors, but a move failed to materialise.

However, the Brazilian said in September he hopes interest in his signature will be renewed after next summer's London 2012 Olympics, and ESPNsoccernet understands a £53 million deal is in place to bring him to the Bernabeu.

A source said: "Neymar will be a Real Madrid player in July, but he is not going there any earlier. He has not signed a contract as yet."

Neymar is expected to join Real on a contract worth £1 million-a-month, while image rights, commercial agreements and the transfer fee could see the deal total around £150 million.

Santos are yet to agree a release date for the sale of Neymar, but it is anticipated his switch to Real will go through next summer, despite interest from elsewhere, including Premier League side Chelsea, who have reportedly been priced out of a deal.

Then we can buy Higuain instead
Why would they sell him though. 10 in 10 this year isn't it ?

I know mate, I was mere joking, but if Hazard and Neymar is going there. Either Di Maria, Ozil or Higuain will be off. I'd have any of them.
Higuain has been amazing this season so sadly that looks like a no go either way.

Could we get one of citys cast offs if they do?

Milner, johnson most likely.

Wouldnt want either but could see the scenario playing out...

Trufax.

(He only said we were in for him, which of course is probably also bollocks)

Milner has been pretty good for City this year so I doubt they'd want to sell him.

Dunno about Johnson. He is someone who seems to do well when he gets an opportunity but Mancini obviously doesn't particularly like him. I think he sees what we see - that he's an arrogant cunt.

Can someone shine a light on this cunty behaviour of Johnson's ?

I haven't noticed it.

Don't you backtrack on me Buddha. Doan you dare meester.

I think Oncy had a thread up before calling out Adam Johnson. Something about him having the audacity to mock Torres during an altercation plus a few other thing.

Johnson doesn't bother me too much, fine player mind.

Back to Neymar. If Madrid pull of Hazard and Neymar in the one season they will be one step closer to bridging the gap between them and Barca.

I still don't know if that's enough though.

Johnson an Arrogant cunt?

Dont know where you're getting that from. I think its more the fact that he's been kicking up a fuss when not playing and getting subbed off early.

That's not necessarily anything to do with arrogance at all, there's nothing wrong with wanting to play and actually earn your ridiculous wages. I'd be over the moon if we were in for him in Jan. He has the potential to be a massive player.

He's got a smug arrogant and extremely punchable face.

Mancini doesn't seem to like him either. Like everyone he recognizes his potential but always hints that he thinks it a little too much of himself and that scoring a goal here and there isn't the be all and end all... even if Johnson seems to think it is.
