Andy Carroll In Danger Yo !

As Rafa just posted, there is a reason that clubs have been cautious about him. He may have played quite a lot, but there is more of a risk that he'll have a short career than others. Hence he is more of a risk than others, so we shouldn't be spending too much on him, or banking on him.

I think it is naturally a worry. But 13 mil and Ba in exchange for Carroll is still a deal well worth making for me.

Doesn't Ba have a 7m release clause in his contract?

If we want him we should just buy him outright. Then make Newcastle stump up for AC when they realise they need a striker....

Well, at first I thought I was right. Then I was wrong. Then in the desperate attempt to still prove I am right 99.75% of the time, I continued to argue my point, and then when I realized that I was really really wrong, I stopped as I realized I didn't really care that much ... so I backed down. It happens to the best of us, even the people who take the high ground with me or attempt to attribute my post to some non-existent islamophobia.
Ah bless ya you crazy fool.

A bit about his knee problem:

It turns out that Ba has a knee problem, which he received playing for Belgian club ‘Mouscron.’ (No I have never heard of them either – and you never will again, because they suspended operations in 2009 after being declared bankrupt!) It was a pretty nasty injury which left a serious fracture in Demba’s tibia and fibula (the front and back bone of the leg), resulting in him being out for 8 months.

As if he wasn’t unlucky enough to be on the injury list – the surgeon only went and did a botch job! Yup! This resulted in Ba struggling with knee pain due to muscle damaged on the operating table. it is believed the problem stems from a nail inserted in his tibia that touched a sensitive part of the knee when it was removed.

Subsequent surgery cleaned up the joint, but it has been enough to prompt most clubs to treat him with caution.

Well we know who the doctor was:

Nothing really to get so worked up over.

I'm not getting worked up. I'm just answering the spurious arguments that thus far have been used in saying why we shouldn't consider him ie. he hasn't scored in 6 months, he's injury prone, he's had one good season.

All these arguments have rather blatant flaws that I believe on a forum dedicated to football it is only right that someone points out.

No?

The point about him being a injury worry still stands, as does the one about how he performs when he's not the main focal point of the attack.

He's hasn't proved himself to being as good a buy as some have made out. I'd certainly rather we stuck with Carroll unless the money was right.

12 games 7 goals for West Ham

34 games 16 goals for Newcastle

He's been an execellent buy.

Problem 1: Worry isn't 'prone'. Maybe his knee will suddenly fall off in the future. But in the past 5 years he has been fit to play more often than almost any player we currently have on the books. Hence not 'prone' to injury.

Problem 2: We'll buy him to play striker rather than on the wing. Sorted.

Jeez, maybe someone used the wrong wording, but surely you can see that he would be a worry? Given he's failed medicals at other clubs.

It's enough to work a few million off his price tag anyway.

I've said it is a worry, but his appearance record does suggest that it is less of a worry than say Owen/Torres having dodgy hamstrings. His knee clearly doesn't pop once or twice a season. It might one day, who knows, but personally I think the player is worth the risk.

But we have no commitment to Ba, we're not a charitable organization giving chances to players with suspect knees. We're not all-in and forced to buy him. So if there is any risk, we should walk away, or better yet not even turn up. There's plenty of other players to chose from, so what kind of retard gets themselves into a position where they take risks and then hope to the gods his knees hold up.

I just don't trust Newcastle. Knowing our luck Ba's knee will fall off in his first game and Carroll will bang in about 35 goals this season for the Barcodes and once again we'll be made to look rather amateurish.

Carroll will never bang in 35 goals for anyone. He'll be lucky to bang in ten in a good season.

I get the intent of the post, mark, but it's so hyperbolic it kind of undermines itself. Given a team playing to his strengths and him focused on playing well 10 would be a walk in the park for Carroll - 20 wouldn't be out of the question either. I don't think he'll do it for us with Rodgers in the dugout though Carroll might disagree. That's the problem.

I'll give you the "35 goals will never happen". 😉
