Those are the stats of a player whose youtube compilation features replays of shots hitting the crossbar.

Torres didn't have great goalscoring stats when he was at Atleti etc ...

Purple is not a striker though. Maybe he does the intangibles better.

Not quite consistant with scoring a hatrick on his debut

I've not a fucking clue if he's any good, I think I've seen him play once or twice at most. Let's calm down about the goals, for him to be a great help right now we don't need him to start shitting goals, we need him to be even just a competent midfielder who can pass and move forward, and find the good options. That's the bar that the Lucas-Mascherano duo sets.

Is he gonna start?

(I'm not even sorry for quiffing)

On the bench I think Anita.

We've got a give the lad to get used to the Premier League, his team mates and get match fit. We can't expect a cross between Eusebio and Superman the minute he walks on the pitch. I feel a little sorry for the lad - the expectation for him is massive because we're doing so shite.

One would anticipate him coming on with 20/25 to go unless Mascher and Lucas continue to dominate midfield

I don't get that. If he's fot enough to play 45mins, why not give him the first 45 rather than the 2nd 45. Surely it's easier to influence a game from the start rather than come in when it could already be too late.

Is it though? He's been injured and has played half a reserve game since March. At least coming off the bench he's playing against players who have tired a bit and Rafa can assess where he thinks he can do most damage and which part of the team is struggling.

I want to see him start, I'll be honest, because I just want him to play and be brilliant, but you can see the logic in easing him in.

Regardless of whether he starts or not, the Birmingham players are bound to snap at his ankles. I hope he can handle himself well.

Cos the game generally slows a bit in the second half and so is easier to slot in when returning to fitness. 'Flu is quite debilitating.

Fair enough I take on the point about players being tired. He played 30mins against Arsenal, so you'd think he's ready to play about 40. I'd rather see him have that at the start of the game then the end, as it's always harder to come in and make the difference, IMO.

It's common sense not to do that, because it handicaps the manager's ability to respond to injury etc..

Is Bowyer playing? The last thing Alberto needs is a tackle from him straight after the kick off. It makes sense to let him warm up at half time and then get 45 minutes.

Re his injuries, which i assume is why he has played so few games in the last couple of seasons...are the injuries re-occuring injuries?like the same hamstring going or has it been a number of random freak injuries?

Since Torres is out, I'd like him to start.

Ain't a bad team.

You just proved my point ... 13 goals in 36 appearances? 14? 16?

Did you expect 25+ for us?

On the other hand, he is replacing Lucarse, so he doesn't really have to be a cross between Eusebio and Superman to improve the team.

He just has to be "not fucking shit"
