Gakpo :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

You'll struggle to find another team with over 50% possession that manages to do so little in the final third as we did.

Arsenal are an impressive pressing team though it has to be said, gave us no time to find any rhythm.

Still think alot of the issue was playing with no real outlet. Diaz can do it to a degree, but Jota and (definitely) Gapko even less so. Without Nunez and Salah we struggle to play our game.

I said it before, this game was clearly crying out for a specialist DM. We lost the game in midfield.

If Endo or even a fit Szobo had played, they wouldn't have had it that easy. Dutch Naby was all over the place and we weren't disciplined in maintaning our midfield shape simply because we didn't have an outlet to pass the ball out and slow things down, esp. when they pressed us.

Our right flank was very weak too. Nobody to push them back and TAA was clearly not fully match fit.

If Bradley or Nunez had played, things would have been a lot different.

It was just a bad day.

And twitter experts talk a lot of sh*t. We've only lost once before this game, so what they on about ? I mean they came out during the 2nd half sitting deep and hoping to counter us. 1-1 at their own home. Playing Mourinho-ball. Yet fanboys are gushing over Arteta like he's some tactical genius. Give me a break.

We didn't turn up, made mistakes, and lost. That's all.

Totally agree, Klopp screwed us on this one, or he had no choice for lack of fit players. I think the right side is such a fucking issue when Gakpo is there, also - they "looked" very good in possession but if you deep it, they did not do much with it in our final third, the goals were just cockups on our part. We just played very badly and to be honest we had no one in midfield that was creating passing angles for Mac10 to take on a forward pass. Gravy was fucking dozing off.

thank you !!!! - I also noticed that they were playing "Park De Bus" bollox as well.

They pressed us got a goal, started defending deep and hit us on the counter.
We were back in it at 1-1, but that mistake from Van Dijk and Ali just finished us.
Just too many ineffective players on the pitch at the same time.

Swear to fucking god if city lose tonight I'll be fucking apoplectic

No, but it's absolutely standard for us to fuck up opportunities when they present themselves. Mentality monsters providing it's a cup game
Yeah I said the same in December. We should have 6 more points at least.

They fucked off the club world cup and came.back having seen us draw with a fucking shite United, and a mixed bag against arsenal.

We can't keep fucking up through shite errors.

No, from now on it's 3 points per game or bust.

It was always gonna be the case unless we were 10 points ahead of the. Honestly how shit are these teams ? they are fucking shit, its not a case that each city player is 70% better than a Brentford player. The fact that City have so much possession and get away with it pisses me right off

well they were streetwise about it because they knew TAA was the weakest link and would eventually tire. Also we had a soft centre and they marshaled us well on the flanks so they knew we weren't much of a threat going forward, even if we had countered. So instead, they sat deep, lured us out and forced us to play higher and attack them instead, which left us very exposed.

I mean, it's just infantile tactics, yet we were naive and played into their hands.

To be fair, we did try to keep possession and slow the game down with simple passing. It's also probably why Klopp took a gamble and brought on a half-fit Thiago, who on his day, was known to break down defences and a master at keeping possession. Unfortunately for him, the first thing he did when he came on was to give away the ball in his own half.

We were actually doing pretty ok, until that cockup by VDV and Ali.

It wasn't a great Arse team that we lost to. We lost because we simply didn't turn up.

We had limited outputs forward and had no wide outlets either. I would hate to say that Arsenal out-tacticed us but I think we out-tacticed ourselves. From minute 2 we were punting long balls at Luis Diaz as if he has somehow become a target man.

Arsenal played an average grandad in midfield and he nullified our midfield with ease.

Indeed...

We missed Bradley at right back and TAA wasn't fit yet IMO....
The lack of Nunez and the danger he poses to teams also cost us....
The second half started well, unlike the first, and then we gift them a fully retarded goal and it was pretty much game over... not cool... it was dumb as fuck in fact... but then again...shit happens.

Are however Arsenal better than us as Gary Neville suggests? Nah... nowhere fucking near...

On a weak bright side however... looking at playing Chelsea an then Arsenal in two games... 3 points is better than 2 draws eh...

You can rage all you like at the players Klopp, but you have to take accountability of the loss. The set up was horrific.

We had 5 defenders back + Ali the time Odegaard received the pass. Massive gaping hole between Ibou and Gomez for Havertz to drift into. Virg stepped out randomly and Mac lost his man.

Ibu was dragged wide covering for our inverted full back. Tons of space for the rest of the move to then happen.

That is the major issue.
I wrote this in preseason:
Might sound like I'm defending Matip but I'd argue that even though Konate can handle a few of the situations Matip was put in with his pace, we shouldn't be opening ourselves up for those types of attacks.
Right now it's as if we're saying please, attack our right flank Konate will handle it.
But the moment he doesn't, maybe he slips or misses the tackle, that's it, penalty or a one on one with the keeper. It's a high risk game we're playing.
I don't remember Trent being positioned in the middle of the pitch in the seasons we won the league or the CL.

Even so Virg doesn't need to step out beyond Havertz does he? He needed to back off and let Mac come across to get closer to Odegaard. It's poor positional awareness and not something you'd expect from him.
