Big Andy

It's going to be a long haul for Andy to win a lot of people around by the looks of it.
For me it is glaringly obvious we play better when he is in the team, regardless of how well he does or does not play personally.
I am not convinced about Dee's stats either, coming on with less than ten minutes hardly counts as a game.
I have said it before and will say it again, Kenny just needs to keep playing him and Suarez and stop fucking around with him and the bench.
I think some people are petrified he is going to make them look mugs, and seemingly the best form of defence is attack, it's no crime to change your mind, I do it all the time.
There is a lot of shit spouted about Carroll on here that's why I fucked off for a few weeks, and the biggest lump of shit that gets thrown in the guys face is the £35m.
Look, no one thought he was worth £35m at the time, no one thinks he is worth £35m now, and there is a strong possibility he may never be worth £35m, but that is not Carroll's fault,we did what we did for whatever reason, but we did it,
what is possible however is that he could still be a great player for us.
We need to play to his strengths, this was encapsulated today, he should have done better with a Downing cross that he did , but he did great with the next one that came in, and that does not mean lumping the ball from defence.
If he gets a 50% return then he really would be worth the £35m, if he got a 20% return it would not be far off, we need to keep pinging good balls into the area for him and I am convinced he will deliver. I am alos sure that these flick ons will also start bearing fruit too.

regards

It's entirely up to Andy how the rest of his career goes but I think he's the type of player who can get about 12-15 league goals a season for the next ten years.

If he does that, he will have justified the price tag for me.

Same

I'd rather a consistent striker than anything else

and a reasonable return on assists. I might like to raise the bar a little though Ross and say around 15 a season.

I actually think he might have a 20 goal season in him.

That'll be the year we win the league

I think his head (and heart) were partly still in Newcastle until his old fans subjected him to so much abuse when we played there. Now he runs to our fans like he belongs to them. Hopefully he finally feels part of the club. I thought he worked fantastically hard in the second half and it was wonderful to see him score again.

Yep, he looks genuinely settled and happy in a Liverpool shirt now.

Interesting shout Macca ... if that's the case, thanks to the Newcastle fans!

So I was right then 😉

Hmm - he only was given "less than 10 mins" in 5 of the 31 games.

My point is he has been given the time and the responsibility. In general he's been pretty pooh until the last month or two.

Can someone please like the following MMia post: I could swear I made the same point a page ago. Where are my 4 likes, eh?? 1 more and he's matched Macca.

The way he is playing recently with the ball at his feet - he reminds me of that player we got for a season from Madrid - Morientes. His link up play is very good, I think he should get the required level of agression in his game and he will start scoring regularly.

I'm happy I stuck by him, took some flack on here in the process too. Admittedly a few others stuck by him as well.

As Vlad said so well, he's not worth the money we paid for him, but it can't be denied that when the lad is given a run in the side he's looked progressively better. I got laughed at for saying he could be an English Drogba. He will probably never reach Drogba's ability, but what I meant by that was the fact that he can bully an entire backline on his own. And even when he isn't playing well, his sheer size and physicality will always cause problems. All he needed to do was get fit and improve his mentality. The rest was always likely to follow once that was in order.

I didn't advocate his signing, and I still think there were better options, but I honestly believe he will be a good player if he's managed well. I just hope his treatment by some fans, and Kenny at times(as much as it pains me to say that) haven't damaged his development irreparably.

Watched Carroll quite a bit for the Toon, and was delighted we signed him.
Like everyone else, i was taken aback by the fee but i didn't really give a shit tbh as i was just excited about seeing what he could offer us.

It's obviously been a rocky 15 months or so for him in a Liverpool shirt - injuries, loss of form, heavy criticism, the team struggling in the league.

I've been as critical as anyone of his performances, at times he hasn't shown he wants it enough. Whether that's down to lacking confidence hence he's not showing for the ball and putting himself about which can look like he's not trying, it's a possibility.

Over the last few months though, he's definitely looked sharper and hungrier. His all round game is much better - he's knocking defenders about, his touch is much better, he's getting in better positions. Nothing out of the ordinary but week by week we're seeing glimpses of his undoubted ability. He's getting it together and that goal today will hopefully do him the power of good.
