I really like what I've seen of him, and I think he'll be a good premier league player, I'm just a little worried about him at us for some reason.

I don't think he will get the regular game time at us to really kick on. But he's kinda in that weird grey area of being too good to loan out/the reserves, but not good enough to start and kick on with us. A bit like Danny Ings.

I'm probably wrong, like.
 
He seems to have a very effective volleying technique, like he's good at getting his body into quite ungainly positions to strike the ball how he needs to get it on target and with power

Yup, that's why I said earlier that he reminds me of Trezeguet.

Double post.

I see some people saying he needs to go out on loan. He's already proven himself in that regard and he looks exactly the type of player (a goal-scorer) we need to be bringing off the bench when goals are required. Surely, even if we are not selling Origi, there is still a place in the squad for him. Let them fight it out week by week and if there is an injury then we are covered for both the starting slot and bench.

Hes been out on loan.. pushed Swansea into the playoffs. Scored some crucial goals.

I don't think he needs to go out on loan again.

I would think that as his stage in his development (and don't forget he's missed a season+ with injuries) he'd love to be part of the first team squad. Learning day in day out from Klopp, Salah, Mane & Firmino, that would likely do more for his progression than playing for a lowly ranked PL or a Championship side.

He could easily get 20-25 games for us (say 5-10 starts, inc. cup games, and the rest coming on as a sub) and likely more if there are any injuries to cover for.
 
Well, their manager will certainly crack the whip, and get him 'more involved,' but he's also likely to bench him for loads of matches unless he follows orders, so any deal will need a very clear agreement as to what does and doesn't suit LFC and Brewster's development. Woodburn went from one club to another (admittedly with injury setbacks) where managers just gave up on him after a few games. Absolutely pointless.

Seeing as we've forged close ties with Salzburg, and its manager and owners, and they play a similar style, it might make sense for us to start developing an informal exchange programme. I'd rather see Brewster over there, playing in that team, than Sheffield. And I'd rather see him play for us.

Definitely should be selling Origi to the clubs interested in loaning Brewster and then buying a winger. I'm done with seeing Origi having a go at LW.

I'm amazed we could find another games in the schedule to pursue Werner for months on end but then not have enough to develop Brewster in the squad. He looks arguably the most natural finisher we've got.
 
I think we're torn. If all we have as options are just Origi and Brewster, then we surely need both of them. If we're bringing in another player, great. If, as the poor winners of every fecking trophy around and yet we're even more broke than last summer (what the HELL are they smoking in Boston???), then we bloody well need both, absolutely no doubt.

(Let's not forget: we willingly destroyed probably the nicest long term relationship of the past fifty years with another club we've had, with Borussia Mönchengladbach, because they were so keen to tap up Brewster; and Klopp went to the fullest extent to broadcast how much we loved this player and were committed to his future progress. To just bung him out now doesn't make much sense to me.)

I'm basing my tiny bit of knowledge of Brewster on the odd clip I've seen on here, his progress at Swansea, and your posts on here. I don't have a great deal to go on but I think another loan might be great for him and whichever club he ends up at, but not the best for us. He looks ready
 
If Klopp is serious about finding space for Brewster in the team, he might have to switch to 4-2-3-1 or 4-4-2 for those games. That’s how he accommodated “pure” #9’s like Lucas Barrios and Lewandowski at Dortmund. But is it worth switching our system that has served us so well? Everything will depend on what works best against the adjustments other teams will make against us.

Brewster scored 2 goals vs Salzburg, but he didn’t really convince in the role of a winger - consider how many touches Salah and Mane have per game and how important they are to us being able to progress up the pitch. Brewster seemed to play a totally different game - looking for scoring chances for himself, playing with a striker mindset, not a wing-forward one. Minamino ended up doing all the linking up and Elliott providing all the width, while Brewster largely did neither. It’s not a criticism and obviously his contribution was decisive - but this creates quite a dilemma of how to build our attacking game when he’s on the pitch. Even Origi is more involved as a winger, despite it not being his natural game.

He's an apprentice. He adapts to the team, not the team to him. After that, if he does what I think he can do, we'll see.

I doubt that playing in the Austrian Bundesliga would do him any good.
 
I wouldn't loan him anywhere. I think if he doesn't get the chance to have a break-through season this time, he never will. It's like Grujic and others, they have performed well on loan but it's now a case of seeing if they sink or swim at the top level. I'd keep both in the squad this year.

Origi isn't what we need, unless we are going to give him a shot down the middle in place of Bobby a bit more, him or Brewster need to be pushing Bobby for a place now. I don't know what to make of Minamino.

Saying Brewster is better than Origi is abit of a stretch. Lest we forget, Origi scored against Barca, Spurs and Everton in some big games, while Brewster is unproven at this level.

Send him out to Sheffield United and if he scores somewhere near to 8 or 10 league goals then we'll be talking.
 
Seems like a weird move to me. While Sheffield United are a decent side, I am not sure what will be gained from him playing for them rather than staying with us as back up.

He'll still get games with us, he'll be training with better players week in week out, he'll be learning our system. Also, when he gets games he will have more encouragement. Sometimes these loans can be a bit hostile and fans are not likely to be as patient with a loan player.

If it doesn't work out for him it doesn't work out for him. That's the way it goes. But if he doesn't do the business for Sheffield United you can hardly see him coming back so he might as well have his Premier League chance with us.
 
It seems like going on loan last season was to get his mentality up to the right levels, as well as his competitiveness. It's not like playing at a worse team is going to make his skills or strategic thinking better. Sending him out again is like sending a race car driver to the go-kart track because he'll win more races.

One of the reasons I want us to get Thiago is that we could start playing the double pivot in midfield regularly if needed. Fabinho, Thiago and Keita all come from systems which played the double pivot, and it'll give us more tactical and technical versatility.

There's huge pressure for us to constantly be at 100% intensity to bludgeon teams into submission. Sometimes you need to be able to relax, and just try and let your technique and quality shine through. We just can't do that with our 'energy' midfield of Gini, Fabinho, Henderson.

The added advantage of the double pivot is that the 4-2-3-1 becomes viable for the attack also. You could play Shaq on the right if needed. Salah or Brewster up top, and any one of Firmino, Minamino and Jones in the no. 10 / free role.
