Can't think of any Bundesliga players who've dominated here recently ... Maybe that's why Klopp doesn't recruit from Germany?
 
Thiago is technically so good that he can dominate in any league. He has that time slows down for him vibe when he is running with the ball.

Havertz is another player whom people whose football opinion I respect were drooling over but has not looked that great.

A long time ago, when I was reading about Ballack's transfer to Chelsea, everyone said that he was some kind of German Steven Gerrard. My most endearing memory of him is being chased off the pitch by the 65th minute by Momo Sissoko. Of course, all of this might be my ignorance, as I dont watch other teams. Maybe Ballack was god level for Chelsea in other games.

By the way, I did not say every player from the Bundesliga will flop here. I said "certain type of attackers".

Yes, he's been very good, just troubled by a couple of long-term injuries. Was never going to be Ballon D'Or level midfielder, but he's certainly fulfilled his potential as a player coming from Germany to the EPL.

This is what I wrote about Havertz and Lampard back in early September:
Havertz is an interesting case – he is a player I've long followed and have been infatuated by, but I have to say I'm doubtful on whether Lampard actually has any idea of what to do with him. Havertz is a luxury-grade system player; in the hands of a very system-oriented coach, someone like Guardiola, Klopp, Pochettino, Bielsa or Nagelsmann, his marvelous versatility, stamina and tactical malleability can be used to fuse elements of several roles at once, seamlessly shifting from being a facilitator and water-carrier to creator and finisher. He's a lot less exciting or effective if you just judge him purely as a winger or striker or midfielder – and at this point I'm not sure whether Lampard's system is quite sophisticated enough to make the best use of his talents. If not, this could be akin to using a state-of-the-art precision tool as a nail-hammer.

I think this is exactly what we're seeing. Lampard is a bit of an old-fashioned manager; he relies on personalities rather than systems. And right now, it's the personalities of the likes of Giroud, Kante, Thiago Silva and the young Pulisic that are keeping his team of mismatched parts afloat.

I'm not sure Kante and Jorginho fit into the same team either. Their squad has tons of talent but I'm not sure they really have a team out of it.

In fairness, can't blame Lampard for that – Jorginho was bought for one reason only, because Sarri wanted him. Doesn't fit Lampard's team and I can understand why.

Chelsea do love collecting players in the 25 - 60 million range. Zappacosta, Batshuayi, Jorginho, Bakayoko, Drinkwater, Morata. Not sure if they paid 20 million plus for Barkley but another player they bought with no clear plan. And there is the crown jewel Kepa who cost more than Allison. Some of them do work out - Pulisic, Kante, Kovacic but their hit rate has not been that good.

yah randomly buying players ... changing a manager every 2-3 years doesn't help either.

I disagree... there is most certainly a good team there. Frank is just not able to pick it, it seems. Partly because they spent so much money on so many players that its hard to not pick them all and they don't all fit in a team.

Soon as Sarri played Jorginho as the pivot and had Kante taking up attacking space, knew he didn't have the right concept.

Sure, but they would be able to shore up any weaknesses if they hadn't plunked hundreds of millions on players they didn't really need.
