But I wouldn't break a bank for another CM at this point, because frankly I don't see how we can have all 3 of Gerrard, Adam and Meireles on the pitch at the same time, other than playing some exotic system like "diamond" 4-4-2 with fullbacks as wingers - can't see it happening here, especially considering that we don't have a decent specialist left back. So I am still in favor of signing Adam - we need more intelligent players in this team, but with Holloway haggling like a Turkish jewelry salesman ("My friend, 30 euros for this necklace? I did. If I'd read reports of alonso before he came to Liverpool it would have suggested that alonso couldn't play as a DM but in a midfield two of alonso and didi/momo/mash alonso always played deeper of the two.
