Could anyone else do better?

Don't get me wrong I love Klopp but this season is a shitshow.

I'm curious, does anyone think there's a manager out there who could do better?

Like when Rodgers was tanking, Klopp was the obvious and perfect fit, but I don't see anyone out there now who seems that perfect Liverpool fit.

Are we just destined for a shit season?

I don't think so. It's a very tired team low on confidence. I'd have loved to get Potter in a few years time, but that ship has obviously sailed.

We have the 2nd most valuable squad in the premier league, we are therefore underperforming. We are this years Man Utd who we all said how rubbish they were with the players they had available and how they should be doing better.

A manager better at getting the best our of a team of fatigued, aging stars who might not fancy being run off their feet all season? Ancelotti, but he's unattainable.

A manager better at rebuilding a youthful, fearless team? Klopp himself, were he not so obligated to persist with the stars he made.

No. Damage was done during the Covid transfer windows. Klopps the fall guy.

It's not all on Klopp. The club got to a point where the owners needed to tweak their business model in order to strengthen the squad further and avoid the kind of relative burnout we're now seeing. When they didn't do that, I suspect what we're now seeing became only a question of time. The manager's not the only one who needs to rethink a few things.

And yes that is a massive exaggeration. But why take tsimakas off last week? Matip today? We'd probs have five more points.

I have to say i don’t really like what we’ve done to overcome the current issues. Playing with a midfielder less definitely seems counterintuitive but this is why our coaching staff are paid top dollar.

Don’t want to sound like an aftv nob but it does feel very Wengerish, it would be nice to acknowledge that we’re way off the pace and park the bus, go with a back 5 or drop Trent for Gomez against a good opponent. Imo what Klopp wants to happen cannot happen with the current squad. But then it’s Klopps optimism and attitude that set him apart and raises the game of the players, going negative maybe isn’t great for their mentality.

I think at various times klopp has gambled on good enough because he can't get what he really wants. It's why we've been successful and it's a massive testament to him betting on himself.

This is the first time it hasn't worked. I don't think he should have to be making that decision though, when he got us in such a good position.

No... We will struggle until we buy new players. I don't think we have the players any more to play the highline, and that's got to change.

There was a point when we were making consistently excellent decisions in the transfer market, allowing us to punch well above our weight. For whatever reason, be it Klopp being overly loyal, or FSG being total mingebags, we have not turned this squad over quickly enough, and have tried to supplement an aging squad with "the right player" - an expensive, ready made player win propels is to the next level, with young exciting players, jam packed full of potential. The problem is this is the strategy taken when you're looking to fine-tune a squad; when you have a ready made platform of players who you can rely on to continue to deliver in the interim period. It's a strange strategy to take when many key components are burning out or on the decline.

Essentially we've tried to fine tune and tweak an engine was in a far worse state of repairs then recognised, and its caused the whole system to fall apart.

Now Klopp is scrambling around tactically, trying to make the best fit of resources, but it doesn't look convincing, especially when we're out of possession. 424 with an attacking, and defensively inept RB is always seemed to be pushing his luck against an increasingly impressive Arsenal side who are packed full of confidence.

I put much of the blame under FSG to not funding the club properly. It forces the club into riskier decisions time and time again.

I'm also in no mindset to really thinking about any potential need to replace Klopp. We're going to have a shit season, and the next one may also be a transitional year, but Klopp has deserved the time, the opportunity to rebuild, and to see out his contract. If it wasn't for Klopp we would be a Europa League club under FSG, so we'll always be on his debt.

The players have been playing fucking shit loads of matches every season for fucking ages now and they're all old boys. Last season killed us dead. Gunned us down to death.

Lack of investment stuck the knife into a dead corpse.

Injuries + ageing players + little to no backing.

We're destined to be shit for as long as this continues.

It's well documented that Klopp's football is one of the most demanding styles in the sport.

Look what happened to Leeds last year who also employed a n intense highline pressing game... they got burnt out losing players to injury and then overworking the remaining players.

So why after a draining season did we not reinforce especially that midfield that has been the weakest part of our team for years?

Buying Thiago wasn't and should not have been the last piece in the midfield jigsaw.

Saying this Klopp has always been quick to see his faults and change things up in the preseason but can we afford to wait till summer 2023 to change strategy?

There’s no way we can wait until summer if we want champions league next season
Maybe we're tired of losing to Madrid every other year that we want to try out a new European competition?

Smart move Imo & technically we'd still be able to call ourselves champions of europe.
