“We had a very long meeting last week with Roy about the window. We went through the list and there was one player who Roy said ’This one, I really don’t like him, I know him well and I’m not comfortable with him.’

i wonder who he is talking about..
Probably Aguero or something.
I'm not sure Roy would be so wrong if it were.

Good though he is, I've never been sold on Aguero. At least not in the 30M+ bracket.
Aguero is fucking quality and would be the perfect foil for Torres. Of course, it's out of the question though!

Rather than start a new thread I thought I'd resurrect this one.

What exactly is he here to do?

Is he acting to secure targets marked out by Dalglish?

Is he supposed to formulate some sort of NESV buying strategy which Kenny has to abide by?

Is he here to look good in a suit?

The reason it seems curious is because we've been linked with Adams and Suarez; and it's very likely that Adams is a Kenny target.

So do they hve some sort of diverse demarcation or something, or is Suarez also a Kenny target?

ANDY CARROLL was the £35million ace in the pack that brought down the Premier League's House of Cards.

His sensational move to join Kenny Dalglish at Liverpool sparked an incredible chain reaction on the most dramatic transfer deadline day ever.

When the Newcastle No 9 signed on at Anfield it ended four days of frantic activity by the Reds' director of football strategy Damien Comolli to find a replacement for wantaway World Cup-winning striker Fernando Torres.

The Merseysiders refused to sanction the sale of the Spaniard until they had a top-drawer replacement safely secured.

That was despite the fact they had received a bumper £50m bid from Chelsea and a transfer request from their 26-year-old top scorer - and had also clinched the £23m capture of Luis Suarez from Dutch giants Ajax.

Suarez had been bought to play alongside Torres, not replace him.

Now the Kop club needed a new partner in attack for the Uruguayan, who caught the eye during his country's shock march to last year's World Cup semi-finals.

So, early on Sunday evening, Comolli - who made his name in English football at Arsenal and Tottenham - produced the decisive move.

The Frenchman had been alerted that Newcastle would do business for Carroll for £35m.

Comolli asked for Toon chairman Derek Llambias' mobile number and put in the call.

His first bid of £22m was angrily rejected
and ensured the tone of negotiations would be difficult.

But, just after 3am, Liverpool tabled their 'best' offer, which was £30m plus a 10 per cent slice on any future sell-on.

Llambias discussed it with Newcastle's controversial owner Mike Ashley and also consulted Toon manager Alan Pardew first thing yesterday morning.

Then the Geordies announced they had rejected the bid and told Liverpool chiefs it was £35m and 25 PER CENT of any sell-on - or there was nothing doing.

Billionaire Ashley reinforced the ultimatum by making it clear he did not need the money
and was very happy to keep Carroll at the club.

Liverpool got the message loud and clear. They caved in at lunchtime and got back on to Llambias to agree the deal with Carroll signing a 5½-year contract. That triggered the domino effect.

Torres boarded a helicopter for Chelsea as bitter Liverpool fans burnt his No 9 shirt on the streets outside the club's Melwood training centre.

After passing a medical, he penned a 5½-year contract.

His arrival at the Bridge saw the Blues sanction fellow striker Daniel Sturridge's loan switch to Owen Coyle's Bolton.

Meanwhile, Pardew's Toon had bolstered their ranks by taking Aston Villa's misfit midfielder Stephen Ireland on loan.

And with out-of-favour Sunderland midfielder Andy Reid and Rangers striker James Beattie safely secured by Blackpool, it looked as though Seasiders skipper Charlie Adam was on his way to Liverpool.

But on a dramatic day when spending topped more than £200m, Adam missed out on his move to Anfield while Spurs also failed in a dramatic late £6.5m bid for the Scot.

35m + 25% sell on fee if this is true. Not really bothered though. God knows when or if he'll ever move on.

How come the 6.5m bid by spurs was categorised as a missed out whilst we offered 8m as being rejected? *scratch head*

The 'miss out' was in reference to Charlie Adam.

Anyway, dodgy figure if true. Why would they suddenly give in and accept 6.5m when this figure was reportedly offered earlier by us? Unless they were ready to cash in having secured their 3 transfer deadline day signings.

Could be possible that Spurs wanted to throw in some players on top of the fee?

Swearing is no issue DHSC 😉 But NSFW is....

Ok Binny, if their 6.5m failed as a last minute bid because of missing 2 signatures how come ours touted at between 6 to 8m were rejected outright? These journalists are talking cocks.

No, Aguero joined AM in 2006. Torres left in 2007.

Good question, and I hope so, because (a) I don't think this will be his last move and (b), despite the timing of it all, we were in a decent bargaining position ourselves so I hope we made the most of it.

Might as well say of Carroll " as if they have a sell on clause. We paid £35M for him"

agreed.

So you think the rumour that the magpies have a 25% sell on clause in the sale of Carroll is untrue? Hope you are right
